Jitterbug23's Journal, 02 February 2018

I got a workout plan from one of the trainers at my gym. I tried it yesterday for the first time & really enjoyed it! He is strongly suggesting I up my carbs if I want the energy to be able to do the workout. Since I've been on keto I've had more energy than I did in my 20's! My WOE has become more about my brain health than weight loss. It's gotten me off of anti depressants, anti anxiety meds, and allowed me to only need to be on one anti epileptic med. It's cleared up my excema and leveled my mood. I explained this too him but he's pretty set on his recommend macros. I know what works for me and am only going to adjust my protein/fat macros. I plan to include more fruit having done some experimenting & I know this doesn't affect me the same way other sugars do.
I know he's a professional but I just can't bring myself to bring the carbs back. I hope I'm not just being stubborn & it winds up disappointing my workout efforts.
This is about being healthy for me and my brain health is number 1. I've been seizure free for 3 years and having one would be devastating. I could be put on more meds, lose my driver's license that I worked for 7 years to get back, maybe even have to go back on disability& lose my job. That may sound a bit over dramatic, but being there was a dark place & I'll do whatever I can to stay away from there.
thanks for all your support FS fam. just needed a bit of a vent today. Happy Woo-Hoo Friday!

I think it’s smart to take it slow and introduce maybe fruits ❤️ I’m so happy Keto has been working wonderfully for you - As far as working out, there are a lot of athletes and body builders who do Keto. I say trust your body :)

Most people don't understand keto. Early on, muscle glycogen is low, but after about 6 months it gets back to normal levels, synthesized from protein instead of carbs. Long term keto eaters say they have much more energy with no highs/lows/bonking because they use their fat stores for energy

I need to get back into W/O. I went keto to fight T2D (it worked) and lost 30 lbs, now I'm working on the last 10 to goal.
