heathergoudy's Journal, 24 January 2018

So I have changed up my weight loss strategy a bit..doing the Weight Watchers/Points system is good, but it's not always easy or practical for me to keep track of the points accurately...I tend to forget to measure/write down my points, so I've decided to just focus on cutting calories/fat/carbs and increase my water intake...If i had started this in the spring or summer I have a feeling I'd be losing the weight faster, due to increased activity level...we take hikes and walks a few times a week when the weather's nice. That being said, it's supposed to be in the 40's up and down the next week, so I'm hoping we can get out there and walk.

I also changed my RDI setting because imo, 2100 calories a day was wayyy too high..I set it at 1500.

Tomorrow is weigh in day...this will be my 3rd week since I started this...I have already lost 5 pounds ( I was 220 when I started) so I'm nervously excited to see what the scale says in the morning.

I have now totally cut out soda...I was drinking diet the first couple weeks but this last week I have had only water!!! I have a case of diet soda sitting there and I can honestly say I am not even tempted to open it.

It's becoming easier to turn down sweets and temptation...mostly because I do not want to undo all the progress I've made the past few weeks...I am proud of myself for committing to this and I am not going back!!

There's going to be pizza tonight, so I am probably going to use up the rest of my RDI on it lol. But it's only once a week, so I will be good I figure as long as I don't overdo it...One slice!! maybe 2 hehe

How did you come up with your RDI? Here is a good calculator that worked for me, http://www.calculator.net/calorie-calculator.html I also cut calories to lose weight, and I definitely ate PIZZA once in a while. I know lots of people on here do KETO, but I still ate carbs, for the most part I tried to stick to low and medium glycemic index carbs as they are less processed, do not raise blood glucose levels as much and keep you feeling fuller longer so you aren't tempted to cheat and snack. However, once in a while I would eat pizza so I did not feel so deprived, just as long as I kept it within my RDI. I still lost weight on a regular basis and got to my goal weight. I am now doing maintenance and trying to firm up. I no longer count calories, I just listen to when my stomach says "NO MORE," and I have kept the weight off. My stomach organ has really shrunk, and I get fuller a lot quicker than I did 55 pounds ago.

Its built into the website here...when you sign up it figures it up for you based on your weight and how much you want to lose...then to change it to whatever you want to you go to your toolbox and its the My Diet section. I've been noticing my stomach must be shrinking too bc when I first started I was sooo hungry lol...but now it's a lot easier...and I do snack in between meals and I have cheat days/meals so i don't feel deprived. I have 70 pounds to lose to get to my goal weight...but I'll get there! And I am doing it gradually so Im not worried about gaining it back...its not a diet for me, just adopting a healthy lifestyle :)

The reason I asked is that many people here talk about how the RDI calcualator on fatsecret does not seem reliable. That is why I suggested using the one on www.calculator.net/calorie-calculator as it gave me a good RDI to use. It may give you a better RDI too. I agree that it is a lifestyle change, a healthy one :) You will get there!!!

Lol its ok...yea the RDI on here told me originally i could have 2100 calories a day! I was like um no....that's a little too high...so i went and changed it to 1500...once I'm at my goal weight 2000 seems like it'd be fair enough
