Fritzy 22's Journal, 18 December 2017

Back to where I was before all the errors in judgement made since Thanksgiving. Funny how just eating poorly for just a day or two can take a week or two off your time goal - if you have one and I do!

Weight loss is not supposed to be linear. Your body does crazy things at crazy times. Even if you go off plan, the change in weight is probably just water. It is really fascinating how our bodies work

Newnbetter: I know what you are saying and agree that if I go a LITTLE off plan, the damage, if any, is temporary. For example, I didn't stuff myself at Thanksgiving, having a spoonful or two of mashed potatoes, stuffing, and had turkey and a small piece of apple pie. I skipped the dinner rolls and twice baked potatoes my sister loves to make (stuffed with cheese, butter, bacon and whatever else she can do to make a potato as fattening as possible). Friday morning the scaled shocked me when it showed a 4 pound gain! But the very next day those 4 pounds were gone. But I was posting about doing things like eating a ton of peanut brittle, a pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream, and a pound of bacon since my low weight a few days after Thanksgiving. Those kind of cheats really make life harder and this process longer. I'm trying to figure out ways to have just a slice of bacon if I want it, or one Pecan Sandie cookie. For now I just can't have them in the house and if I am really craving ice cream, I know I can get a small cone or just a scoop of ice cream in a cup at the local ice cream parlor. It is fascinating how our bodies work - it seems like if you eat a pound of anything, the most you should gain is a pound. I am really figuring out what I should be eating and what helps me lose weight faster and more consistently. Problem is, I don't really like eating a lot of those foods (I seriously could go the rest of my life without another vegetable unless potatoes and avocados count as vegetables).

I hear ya. For me, eating carbs such as ice cream or potato chips triggers cravings that I can’t handle. That is why I am a low carb person. Other more moderate ways just don’t work for me. I’m too much of an addict. And like you, after having a big win as you did for thanksgiving, I often have my biggest slip ups that can go for days, weeks, months .... you get the picture. I’m very impressed that you are back on track. You are very strong 😊

It's FS that is keeping me strong. Having the ability to read what other people are going through and how they handle it helps me so much. Motivates me and makes me realize I can lose the weight. Even though we all follow different eating plans we can offer support and motivation.
