that only works for a short time unless you can keep that up the rest of your life. your body will go into a catabolic state and start storing fat; you want to be in an anabolic state and burn fat.

no problem Ellenbear (side note I lost 10 points on my college nutrition paper because I messed up and wrote catatonic rather than catabolic...opps) happy holidays to you too,

What a laugh you gave me! How ironic, catatonic is the word that popped into my head when I read it! The sad part is that soon may be my life. Mary

Ellenbear, a solid way to burn calories more effectively is to get your body used to burning calories consistently, i.e. jumpstarting your metabolism. Believe it or not, a great way to do this is actually by eating several smaller meals throughout the day. Being on the other end trying to gain weight, I need to eat several meals a day to keep my metabolism going strong to prevent that catabolic metabolism where fat accumulates, but in my many meals, they need to look more like full meals. My freshman year of college, I did this a little too hardcore and ate 6 FULL HUGE meals a day and gained 32lbs in a year. Got a little more filled out than I wanted to be, but it all worked out. Kicking that metabolism into high gear my giving it a constant workout is a fantastic way to go. All the best!
