Day 417; Calories 1727; Weight 179.4 (-1.6 lbs)

I had planned on staying home today. Getting up early this morning, exercising and then diving into tax preparation. Eventually perhaps working a bit after I began to see progress ... with no need to go to town today.

Ah, the best laid plans of mice and men. Let me return briefly to ... as the toilet swirls ... brought to you by life is interesting. FIL continues to be quite a challenge. His latest stunt was deciding to STOP his medication, cold turkey, because he believed it was making him anxious. Did he call and talk with the doctor? Of course not. Did he call and talk to a pharmacist? Of course not. Just decided all on his own. I guess he nearly ended up in the hospital last night. Severe anxiety, heart racing, pacing around his apartment, moaning and groaning. Called the doctor's office yesterday am. Doctor asked him why he stopped the meds? FIL told him he read the potential side effect insert and it said you shouldn't drive when you take it and he was going to drive to the store. Dr. told him 'you should not be driving at all' and told him to take a pill IMMEDIATELY. So ... of course ... they are out of milk TODAY and need their phone card charged, and, and, and, and!!!! So ... enter Moose to 'save the day' ... UGH. It's okay though ... just shift my plan a bit ... it will be okay. I'll tan today instead of tomorrow, I'll go to the bank today instead of tomorrow, I'll take some trash to the dump ... it's the Gumby rule ... be flexible.

Hubby and I are going to do a little mini-get-away this weekend and spend the night out (dinner and dancing too!!). A little early St. Patrick's Day celebration I guess (we both have a wee bit of the Irish in us!!). While I'm not looking forward to extra calories (given my weight this morning which was quite exciting to see once again) I am looking forward to kicking my heels up and having fun. I love dancing ... being a little crazy ... and just hanging out with my man. Yes, I know, going out doesn't absolutely require extra calories but quite frankly ... I will drink and that will mean calories and I will likely eat things I do not typically eat and it will all be just fine. This is a life long journey and there really isn't some special number I need to weigh to feel good about me.

Ah ... first cup of coffee nearly consumed I am ready to begin quarter counting (vending machines) and get this party started!! Today is March 11th ... next month at this time ... April 11th I will be in Mexico!!!

What, pray tell is Moose grateful for today???

1. loyalty & devotion ... realizing that sometimes it is better to do what someone else needs us to do instead of what I 'want' to do
2. seeing 170 something on the scale, AGAIN.
3. a super sweet orange last night ... YUM!!!!
4. my husband (while we both have plenty of 'warts' and are far from perfect)... together we have learned much about love and friendship through the years ...
5. and the simple things in life ... funny movies, good coffee, silly jokes, beautiful sunsets and sunrises, canine snuggles, toddlers' smiles, baby noises, blue skies, vibrant flowers, the smell of freshly baked bread ... well you get the idea!!!

As we all continue to put one foot in front of the other shall we continue to work on being as present as we can in each moment, being grateful for what is instead of pining away for what 'could've' or 'should've' or 'might be'. I'm not suggesting it is easy. I only know that for me, it makes a difference. Well ... guess I better get a move on!!! Have a good day.

Funny how the little things will perk up a day - those are the things that make you smile. Hope FIL doesn't take up all of your day, but you are doing for him but actually for hubby and your future conscience - Good job! Congrats on 170!!!

Love, love, love your daily list of things to be grateful for...I mentioned to you last night that I find your journals *therapeutic*..."being grateful for what is instead of pining away for what 'could've' or 'should've' or 'might be'. THIS quote will be MY mantra for the day...THANK you moose...! YOU have a blessed day....huggs and congrats on the 170's....!!!

It's frustrating to make a plan, a plan that works very well and at the last minute to have to change the plan! I hope you'll be able to do what you want to do, and what a good idea this weekend away with your husband! I definitely need to do something like this soon, even of there is no husband to come with me lol! Have a great day!

Excellent weigh-in moose, great job! Your FIL has character, in spite of all the problems, I think I like him (i.e. I have a passionate dislike of medications too). Best to die with your principles intact and your head held high. ;-) I hope you have a wonderful weekend my friend, dancing is one of the very best of exercises, so you needn't worry about the scales much. Thanks for being so you.
