Tomorrow it begins. My Atkins weight loss journey. Im so glad I found this site. Its exactly what I need to hold myself accountable. I am the heaviest I have ever been and I need to change my life once and for all. I believe that Atkins will help me get where I need to be. As long as I keep very low carb and have a calorie deficient so my body uses its own fat for fuel, I should be losing. I know what I have to do, its just the will power that I need. I must train my brain, so that my body will follow. Wish me luck!
My meal plan:
Breakfast: Coffee + cream
Lunch: Eggs + Bacon Taco Bowl: meat, sour cream, cheese, hot sauce, lettuce Chicken Wings: chicken, butter, hot sauce, blue cheese Salmon: salt, pepper, chili, hot pepper paste Steak with butter + broccoli Eat out - protein + veggies
Snacks: Turkey sticks Cheese sticks
Dessert: Sugarfree jello + whipped cream Sugar free chocolate mousse

Welcome! My key to "will power" is to stay low carb and my appetite goes away! Ketosis is amazing that way!

Welcome! I suggest you consider having some protein for breakfast, eggs for example are zero carb but give you energy to last until lunch.
Also: make sure to get enough salt. At the start of low carb adaptation, the body will flush sodium, possibly driving levels too low. Symptoms are light-headed or dizzy feeling, headache, and constipation. Having a cup of bouillon will add enough salt to correct the deficiency.

Welcome! Everybody's a self-appointed expert around here ;-) so you'll get all kinds of advice. Bluecoaster can't post much right now, but her journal archives are a TREASURE TROVE; she started out Atkins, and has stayed low carb, and shares very transparently about this not always being easy and how she's worked things out and kept on keeping on. I downloaded the mobile app thinking FS was just a food tracker. Had no idea there's so much support and encouragement here. Plus a measure of warm heckling, and the occasional random schoolkid troll. It's all good!

Oh, and so as not to "deprive" you of my own little hobbyhorse advice: in my experience, calorie restriction isn't straightforwardly constructive. Bonus: sweeteners can wreak havoc on gut health. But neither of those are things you really need to worry about just yet, if ever. You'll figure out what works best for you, and we'll all cheer you on!

Sounds good to me. Atkins has their own tracker app. It does a 40 net and 20 net and shows fat, protein totals when you log. Also has acceptable foods for plan. I'm kind of compulsive about tracking and it helps when I use it
