Homework Assignment #5
Activity 1 - List at least one thing you know you can do this week
Since I've already built in exercise minimums and maximums over the past 9 months, I'm going to list things I'm not always consistent about, but can use some improvement on.
1. I will take the immuno-suppressant twice daily when the app on my iphone sends me a notification, and log the dose as "taken" directly AFTER I take it so I know for sure it's been done.
2. I will take the baclofen when notified by the app on my iphone and mark it as "taken" directly "after" I take it, so that I know it's been done.
3. I will take 2 Vitamin D twice a day and 1 B-12 vitamin in the morning (set reminder in phone)
4. I will contact the specialist on Wednesday and reminds her to call in another script for the baclofen since we decided to increase the dosage. (set reminder)
5. If Mom and I go out for our usual Thursday dinner, I will not drink beer with my co-workers on "Beer Thursday" and reserve a 2 drink minimum when we get to the restaurant.
Note: Setting medication goals may seen kind of silly in regards to building trust with myself. However, one of the 2 symptoms that often accompanies MS is "Cog fog" and short term memory. The Cog fog makes it difficult to focus and is caused by a “loss of myelin around nerve fibers [which] can cause difficulty with transporting memories to storage areas of the brain or retrieving them from storage areas.”
I am not always good about taking the meds on time, and even worse about marking them as taken. I then end up forgetting whether I took them or not and skip a dose so I don't risk doubling up.
