Start of fall push to get into ski shape...recent elliptical session:

>just under 9 min/mile pace for 50 minutes (5.67 mile in 50:40)...note; not sure how accurate this number was...this sounds pretty optimistic compared to my own machine
>steady state plus HIIT through session
>avg heart rate 156...max HR +/- 173

Followed elliptical session with slow, upper body workout.

Main goals are to improve endurance and speed without losing strength, burning a few calories is a bit of a side benefit.

Again, really just looking to add a bit of muscle and conditioning...will lose some fat too, but increasing and maintaining muscle strength is the priority.

Brenda, it must be the lighting, or lack of :-). Had a nice 46 minute session this morning, heading out to the ocean in a few minutes to do some snorkeling with the grandkids...super fun, awesome day already!!

Ha, you make me laugh! I hope you and the grandkids had a wonderful time snorkeling. I used to enjoy snorkeling in the Gulf of Mexico off of the causeway leading to Sanibel Island and Bahia Honda State Park at Florida Keys Beach. Today I had a positive, but abbreviated work out session. Since I hadn't dead lifted in a while I used the Smith machine with two of the students checking my form. I was surprised that I remembered how to properly execute the moves. Have a great weekend!
