Ugh Matthew has cried for almost 4 hours straight - is driving me crazy. We have tried everything. I am sitting here bawling my eyes out!

I so hope it won't be like this every night :( I am not sure I could cope.

Hi Squigg..when my niece did that it was called colic...my sister the nurse would wrap a blanket real snug around her..some times you can turn the dryer on and sit them on it in their carry seat..and the hum and movement of it would calm them down..colic is where their stomach aches..and you might have to change formula..if your not breast feeding....And yes you can cope as he is your miracle baby..Sending Lots of love and Hugs..and will be praying for you all...:O)

Yea, my daughter had colic and cried and cried. It will pass. If baby has no fever or doesn't seem to be in pain, than it might be colic. it's tough though.

Squiggs, I know it's hard. Try swaddling, as Bren said. Also, I had good luck laying mine tummy down on my knees and patting or rubbing their back while I swayed them. If it's gas, this sometimes helps. The main thing is trying to stay calm (I know, easier said than done.) Matthew can sense that you're upset. This too shall pass. It just doesn't feel like it now. Big hugs!!!

Squigg -I've been there as well, a long time ago. But I remember very well that I spent nights walking around with the baby over my shoulder. Also, laying down and having her on my stomach seemed to help. As for catching up with sleep, I am sure Matthew is as exhausted as you are so he will sleep during the daytime. If you can, try to catch up at the same time. And I agree with everyone else - it will pass. Oh, one of the home remedies, make his formula with fennel or caraway seed tea (of course, unsweetened).

If he just started, do check with your doctor to confirm colic. It could be an ear problem, the other girls have good suggestions. We use to strap baby in car seat and drive around. WE also had to let the baby cry himself to sleep at times when nothing helped. You can do it, and this too shall pass.

I'm sorry to hear you are having to go through that Squiggs. It's not enjoyable at all. 4 hours is quite a long time to be crying. I would at least give the doc a call and pick his brain. I will pray that baby Matthew feels better soon.:)HUGS:)
