BuffyBear's Journal, 13 January 2012

Happy Friday!

Before I forget, I wanted to thank everybody for their comments and helpful suggestion on my Journal yesterday. I was preoccupied last night and didn't get back to answer all of you.

I though I'd be spending today in the hospital. DH has had some kind of infection underneath the skin in his leg and a 101 fever. He went back to the doctor yesterday and was told that if he wasn't better this AM he'd have to go the the hospital. Fortunately both his fever and the swelling are down this morning.

So, that is my good news of the day. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.

Bren - I appreciate that - wish we knew what it was because I tend to think the worst - MERSA or Flesh Eating Bacteria. Maybe I watch too much TV.

JN-Davis - You and me both!

Hey Buffster! Keep an eye on your hubby's infection and don't hesitate getting him to the hospital if there isn't more improvement. The antibiotics they gave him ... hopefully are strong. I know he will be fine. I bet he got a spider bite. I just read your journal from yesterday and that was a lively conversation going on! Great read. I tend to stick to my dieting better when I have new recipes to try. Some of the new things I am buying now... due to not eating grains ... is coconut flour and almond flour. I started buying cans of turnip greens. Trying to get more green leafy veggies in. I am like Stef and Bren... there isn't a grocery store close to me and we shop Walmart for the prices. (SAMS CLUB, too). My favorite meats come from Sam's. I just divvy it all up into freezer baggies. Grocery shopping is a day out of the boonies for me, and it can be a nice outing. LOL!

Buffy, I hope hubby improves that sounds really scary. I have to go to the grocery store later so hope to browse instead of rushing around, you have given me food for thought.

I hope he continues to improve. I'm sending healing prayers and thoughts. I'm like you, I watch to many scary things on television and my mind always goes to the worst case scenario. Take care of hubby, and like M2B says . . . keep an eye on it.

Buffy glad to hear DH fever and swelling is better, not something you want to mess around with infection & swelling for no apparent reason. Know you'll take good care of him. Best for the weekend !

Glad he is better! I am getting over my skin infection.... I was worried too, but luckily had some antibiotics to clear it up. They are no fun and can be quite painful! Good news heading into the weekend! :-)

As everyone said watch it closely... not wishing to alarm you...have you read my bio?

Thank you all for your concern. You'd better believe I'm keeping a close eye on him. The doctor had switched his meds to a double dose of a Sulfa Drug and that seems to do the trick, plus he seems to be tolerating it well (the list of side effects is long). Di Happy - He has already lost part of his pinkie finger (to snake bite) so we hope to keep the rest of his limbs intact.

Buffy, that is so scary...I am glad he is improving. The side effects on those sulfa drugs are scary aren't they? What kind of snake bit him. I got a dry bite by a baby copperhead one year on a float trip...thank goodness he just barely got me and didn't inject any venom. Just left 2 little puncture wounds. Scary though, as we were miles from nowhere on a river in a canoe! lol Have a great weekend, and please know we will be praying for your hubby!
