Sometimes living with family really bites. When I had my DD, my grandmother was having heart health issues that are still unresolved. Being a single parent and wanting to get my degree it worked out for me to live with her. Mutually beneficial with my help for her and hers when I needed a hand with the kid. Problem is, I've been reminded clearly how far I've fallen constantly by her. She was gone for a week and it was so nice to have my own routine, cook what I wanted without critisizm, parent my way, etc. Then she came home last night and blew up at me. Suffice to say after spending time on Craigslist house hunting I went to bed early and cried myself out.

The biggest issue for me besides the monetary bit is that I refuse to move my DD around every few months or even every year. As long as I subjugate myself to grandmas whims DD is in a secure home thats not going anywhere. If I find a place of our own it'll be some crappy 1 bedroom apartment, or even a studio that odds are good I'll want out of sooner rather than later.

I know He will provide and I'm sure that when we're in whatever good place there will be later this will seem like my teenage years but right now I'm so frustrated that I'm ready to lash out...or eat a big bowl of capn crunch with half a gallon of milk. :(

Oh my heart goes out to you, I really don't know what to say, as you really shouldn't have to put up with abuse of any kind. But don't lash out just think of your own health and happiness and capn crunch won't help you feel better at all. I really don't have any suggestions for you, but am hoping beyond hope that HE will provide and that it isn't too long for your sanity before he does. But take care of yourself and just remember we are all here for you. I don't know if when she says things to you could you just say "Could you please repeat that" as maybe she doesn't even realize what she is saying to you she has got into a habit of saying things to you. But at least it gives you time to take a breath, maybe it will stop her saying negative and mean things......sending you {{HUGS}}

Thanks Yvonne. I know its not something I can change with her. Shes old and very set and not about to change for anybody. The few times I've called her on her attitude have only angered her more and left me running for shelter. I'm not a confrontational person and since I understand her point of view it makes it hard to effectively fight back without hurting the relationship further. She uses the whole 'pull the big guns out and decimate the enemy' tactic straight out, no buildup, and I don't fight dirty like that.

I am with you I am not confrontational either, so to say "could you please repeat that" is not confrontational so they have to repeat it and if it is not a nice thing to say hard to repeat, it does work with kids, friends, hubby's and other family members, just worth a try. But I certainly wouldn't fight back as that doesn't work with someone like that. But hope things improve quickly for your situation.
