Today will be busy..as usual! My middle son is in the town's Santa parade - he's on one of the Fire Trucks! (he's a firefighter, for those that don't know.) Hoping to figure out a way to get my Mom to be able to go...

She tends to not like 'activity'... and really doesn't like to sit around and wait for things to start... so this ought to get interesting. We borrowed a wheelchair as she can't walk long distances of any kind...so I think this could work, but it'll really depend on her mood, and willingness.

But first we will be going to church - and we attend services that typically run long - and are 20 min's from home... add that all together and it's a mad dash to get back to town, grab Mom, and get to the parade route before it all gets started so she can get up front somewhere and actually see from a sitting position in a wheel chair!

I feel stress just typing that!

Maybe I'll see Ol' St. Nick (RED TEAM REFERENCE) while I am there...and surely I will get some of my exercise in :) Got all of our candles in the windows, wreath and decorations outside up yesterday...

So after the parade - it's TREE TIME! If I can handle it. Sometimes I get very stressed out dealing w/ my Mom - especially if she is having a bad day. The less she likes something...the more critical and negative she becomes... the more stressed I become :)

It's a vicious cycle!

Hope you all have a lovely day!!! Much Love!

I really sounds stressful and I sure hope your mom will go. She will have the best time. would be a pity if she'd miss it.You are almost done with decorating then it is time to lean back and enjoy. I have not quite made up my mind if I want a Christmas tree this year. Too much to do to deal with it. Bought some wreaths yesterday and hung them on the doors, put up some candles but now other things need to be done (fundraiser tonight, need to prepare some snacks to bring along, laundry and I actually had planned some insulation work) so I can't continue decorating. Maybe next weekend I'll go for a tree. Will see. Have a wonderful Sunday and don't let anyone stress you :-)

Parents....they are such a worry. Hubby and I don't have that worry anymore and it is both liberating and sad. We are the lonely couple who have been invited to lots of Christmas breakfasts, lunches and dinners, we are thankful for that but will probably stay at home with the boys (Ozzy the dog & Lenny the house rabbit) and pop out for a few visits, rather than being out all day, plus I know what goes into our own food....may be a bit 'bah humbug' but it's about having 'our Christmas' now. Have fun with the decs XXXXX

Hope all goes well. Just keep telling yourself that each criticism is her way of showing how she cares. We don't understand it but that's how some parents communicate. My dad is like that that and each year it gets worse. I try to ignore it when it gets ridiculous. Have a great day.

I know that stress feeling, but do try & relax & enjoy the day as best you can! I am sending you cyber smiles to paste on your face for when it gets hard to handle! PS - LOL @ your team reference w/St. Nick...all efforts in good cause for the team! Where/when does Father Christmas ever do a parade or make a public showing of himself?

GG - if Father Christmas 'shows himself in public' he'll likely end up in jail! ;) LOL! They kinda frown on that in the middle of a parade! - Ok, well the day was nothing like it was planned...as usual! Oh, went to church, that was fabulous! Wish you could all go to my church. We have the best time ever! But didn't get out of there, and home - in time to shove 'granny' (as my husband loving refers to her as) in the car and get to the parade. It had already started when we hit the driveway. So instead, we had a quick lunch, took her w/ us...and went in search of the Family Tree! HA !!!! We got one! Two fights, and 22 trees later! Oh the memories! I put the 17 yr old in charge - he gave me one VETO power... which I immediately amped up to 2 !!! It was quite the afternoon :) I love my family... really! My mom has some cognitive issues, and short term memory loss from her strokes... so by the time we were back home, she was asking if we were going to go get a tree today! We all collectively said "no". Think we were a bit overtired or something! Much Love.

What you eventually did, sounded the best option. Sometimes, we put so much pressure on ourselves to please everyone, that we end up making ourselves stressed - particularly at this time of year. Maybe, you need to make this a new year's resolution - to Think and do what 'YOU want and enjoy' occasionally. Have a good week... Hope she likes the tree. LOL
