Sandy701's Journal, 20 November 2011

Back walking 3.1 miles today; 1.5 of it w/doggies. Have taken the last 2 days off so I needed to get back to doing SOMETHING.

I was feeling rather irritated/frustrated walking these same ol' streets for these many, many months. But then I remembered the sermon today about being thankful....in ALL circumstances. Just needed a little attitude adjustment. :)

Hard hitting sermons are the best! I saw a thingy yesterday that said "imagine if God only gave you today what you thanked Him for yesterday..." - certainly makes you think! Good on you for walking!

Wow, Squiggs....I really, really like that thought! I must really need this message, as it's coming through from various sources! Thanks!

Doing the same thing over and over again can be a drain. Do you have a park you can drive to for your walk - just to give yourself a break now and then? The ones around here allow dogs too. That way you can add Beautiful Nature Trail to your Thankful List.

Hi Sandy, nice thoughts going on here...I have loads to be thankful for and I should write them down every day... like "I woke up today for starters...we can always find some one worse off than us..the list goes on...Have a great evening...☺

Buffy, I need to look for alternatives. I know there's a long trail near the gym that is made for walkers and joggers, so that might be an idea. I'll have to do some thinking about others. Have an uneventful short work week!

Bren, yes there's a whole LOT to be thankful for and it makes all my everyday irritations seem pretty inconsequential. Take care this week...

Yvonne, I usually "solve the world's problems" while I walk, but today, because I was in such a mood, I just kept going through a mental list of things to be thankful for. Once you get started, well, there's just more and more and more! It starts, as Bren said, with waking up! Hope you have a peaceful week.

So, do you walk all year round, or is there a time it is too cold? I seem to recall that you are on the east coast? I live in the Northwest; we get wet drippy rain so about this time of year I move from walking to the gym. Anyway, have a great week - there is so much to be thankful for!

Vicki....I currently live in the South so walking outside is pretty much a year-round activity. It WILL get below freezing but I just wait until later in the day when it's warmer and bundle up a bit. Occasionally I don't walk due to weather (it's happened this year already) but I guess it's more a personal choice to not be uncomfortable that day. DH is active military, like some of your family, so we've lived in a lot of places with varying weather patterns. You have a great week, as well.

I think by now your attitude is adjusted, so I don't have to worry! I love what squiggs wrote too! Really makes a person think, like being thankful we are able to walk!

GG...I can imagine with all the exercise you like to do that the "thankful for walking" takes on a great significance.
