Back from the gym. A friend of mine owns it and saw me on the treadmill warming up. He's an All American track guy who still competes. I think you know where this is going. It's a nice day today so he "offered" to take me running with him. I haven't really run (except for little shorts on the treadmill) in 10 years. He didn't let me stop, though, and ran right next to me despite my slow pace. I ended up running about 1.3 miles (according to his GPS) nonstop. A record for me, for sure!
I might have to get back into this. He recommended 2x per week to start.
I'm planning on Saturday right now. Let's see if I get it done. :)

:) I have been telling myself to put some running time in-- I think it'd be great if you get it in there!!!

Running is the only cardio plan I've got goiing for me. I don't particularly like it, but its effective and once I get going, I get in a zone! Right now, I'm averaging 10-12 miles a week. I'm buying a bike this weekend end to provide an alternative source of cardio.

Ditto Joy's comments--I used to hate running and would avoind it at all costs (I was a swimmer and I would choose to swim the miles rather than run them for training. But now I have found running works the best for cardio training. Build slowly...I built from nothing to 5 mile runs 2-3 times/week. You can do it!!!

Thats brill, a little encouragement goes a long way. Running certainly shifts the pounds, but dont forget resistance training/weights, muscles burn fat even when resting, thats got to be good!
