I've noticed something weird lately. When I walk one lap in the evening, I lose weight. If I walk three laps in the morning, I put on weight. I don't have any extra calories when I walk more so I'm wondering if maybe I'm holding more water weight or what.
I spent a couple weeks walking for almost an hour every day and I was putting on weight, but since the weather has been bad this week I've been walking only the lap in the evening and I'm losing a lb every day or two!

The more you workout the more muscle you accumulate. Muscle weighs more than fat, which will reflect on the scale. Exercise is about being healthy and making you feel good. There's more to losing weight then calories in/calories out. Give it time. The muscle burns more calories at rest. Keep it up and you will thank yourself in three months. :)

Exercise causes water retention. Also - how /when you weigh can make a diff as well. Are you weighing in at the same time of day (preferably first am; dry) and in the same way every time?

I will gladly offer my experience to the conversation. Walking IS one of the best ways to lose FAT. Not just weight. If your heart raises to a certain level your body stops burning fat and switches over to pure glucose burning. This is counteractive to what you are intending to do. The best way to burn fat outside of sleeping is to walk at a pace that gets your heart to 65% to 70% of your maximum heart rate. If I knew your age, I could tell you exactly what your number is to reach. But you can go online to find out. Also, I am going to offer a little education that your doctor has failed to give you. Your body does not have a problem processing sugar. Your body has a problem with TOO MUCH insulin. which has caused your body to become insulin resistant. Its NOT the sugar that is the root of the problem. The problem is you not only ate too much sugar or carbs. But you ate too often. If you want to heal yourself without the medicine, then do what I do. you need to learn to fast. Switch to a LOW CARB, HIGH FAT diet. Eat less that 20 Grams Of CARBS a day. That's not just sugar, I mean TOTAL CARBS. And eat NO sugar. NONE. No white break, no potatos. No starchy food. NOTHING processed or made from flower. The ONLY carbs you should be eating are GREEN Veg. And Even then, UNDER 20 grams a day. Your PRE diabetes will become NON existent. I do the same exact thing I am recommending to you. Eat 10 calories per pound that you WANT to weigh. It should be 70% Fat, 20% protein and 5% carbs. You should incorporate one of the Intermittent fasting styles as well. THIS will force your insulin levels down to healthy levels. Don't worry about your blood sugar either. As long as you Follow those macros, your blood sugar will come down naturally on its own. So you wont NEED the drugs anymore. Your body will become Insulin sensitive again. AND you will drop a lot of fat. I am living proof it works. When nothing else has. I have gone from 385 to 353 in 1.5 months. Doing what I just told you to do. And My blood sugar is PERFECT now.

I have been told over and over muscle weighs more than fat but muscle also burns fat so it's best in the long run I think

Ohhh I almost forgot. The more you work, the more damage you do to the muscle fibers in your legs. The body responds to this by flooding the muscle cells with water and nutrients to repair the damage. Body builders use Creatine monohydrate to INDUCE this even more. So the weight your pick up from walking really is just water. It will shed back off. Do not let it dishearten you.
