madanjen's Journal, 18 February 2016

It was an especially long day yesterday. I am self employed, which leads people to believe it's great because I make my own hours but...at times MY OWN HOURS are 7 am to 11pm and I still don't finish the task at hand but so drained I have to stop.

It reminds me of when I was married and my little son who is an extremely bright boy. His mother, "Don't disturb your father, he has brought work home all week because he's behind and needs to catch up." He responded with, "WHY DON'T THEY PUT HIM IN A SLOWER GROUP!" I laughed so hard when she told me what he said...it was priceless!

Back to the topic at hand. When you have done everything right throughout the day nutrition wise, and finally get home exhausted, are you more tempted to eat really bad things as I was last night. I ended up eating an ounce of cheese which I don't think I entered but I really did want to have a late night snack.

When are you tempted the most to eat something that you really shouldn't?

And when you do, do you alter the following day's eating plan to make up for it?

I am usually templed my last hour of work, a lot of times, my stomach is growling and if I don't eat, I can't concentrate. I usually try to make up for it at dinner that same night.

I am often tempted to eat off plan if I feel angry...so I take long slow deep breathes until the feeling passes...I do not eat when I am angry anymore...I refuse to do it.

I'm tempted every time I cook for the kids and husband... sometimes I literally bite my tongue to stop myself... I try to make good the next day if I slip up... Or feel I could have done better....

I am tempted every time my husband wants to order out which is all the time... We used to share whatever we got but not anymore, he's finally understood I am not going to live like that anymore. Now when we order I get my own thing and most times I tell him no, I already have my meal thank you.

I think alcohol does that to most people. It's like it turns on the eat switch while turning off the common sense switch. I have a funny meme where a guy asks a girl if she wants a drink. I guess I won't share it on here since this is a family friendly site! Lol Mistybenner, I take it your hubby is one of those who can eat anything and not gain weight?

Today it was walking into the break room to find there was pizza and chicken wings left out for everyone. I stuck to my string cheese instead. Most of the time my hardest thing is dinner time. I'm used to eating ungodly portions for dinner, because I get home and feel famished. Last night hubby made his tuna casserole, which is delish. I so wanted a second plate, but held off. Went and did my work out, and figured out I wasn't really hungry after all.

Yep. It's a psychological thing. I'm used to taking a large helping of something at dinner. So, I'm just trying to get myself out of that mindset.

It's the alcoholic drinks even though I try to have ultra light beer, it still adds up if you have a few. I find if I eat 200 cals over 1200 I gain. I am at 900 cals now and getting ready to have a few beers(3) if I want to stay with in my target but this means no dinner or snacks?? I need to go check the Weekend Watch Group for some support too.

After work is the worst. I ate 1/2 a pizza tonight. SO MUCH STRESS to bury in food. Gotta plan better.

I'm trying to learn to H.A.L.T. in all things, which means not make decisions when I'm Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired, which is tough when making decisions about food late at night. I don't so much make meal plans as calorie budgets for myself. I have a list of 50-100 cal snacks, a list of 150-250 mini meals, and a list of 300- 400 cal main meals available, then I plan the times I'll be able to pick what I feel like off each list. Like Breakfast 11am: One mini-meal. Lunch 2pm: one snack. Afternoon 5pm: one snack. Dinner 7-8pm: main meal. Late 11pm: one mini-meal or snack. (Just an example, adjust to your schedule).
