I have begun the two challenges now an I accept them as teaching tools....If you know what I am saying is if you can loose for nine wks then you know how to do this for 20 or 30 weeks. I always hit a plateau before and lost my focus. My lowest was 208 lbs from 255 lbs. It shot up after the plateau to 220 lbs. Now I have declared war on belly fat....Riding my bicycle two to three hours a day and was still gaining weight. That is where I drew the line. I now know I am a Carbo Junkie. Just like an addict.Oh! Please pass me that bag of Potato Chips. LOL not any more.

Carbs are ok IMHO but lace them with fat and you are in trouble ;)

Dr. Furhman's End of Dieting is an amazing book that really changed me. Not just for weight but also to be free from diseases and living healthy.

Ahh...the "Cybling Paradox", i.e., how can you cycle for hours but still be fat? Cycling is steady-state cardio..you are training your body to be highly efficient in using energy at a low rate over an extended period of time. If you want to cycle and lose weight, similar to running..you need to add in interval sprinting. As for carbs, they are not OK, period. The process is simple, carbs raise insulin, insulin stores the sugar as fat....and that's it.

Congrats on realizing & admitting there was/is a problem. That's always the first and biggest step biggest in changing to a better, healthier lifestyle. You'be got this!

Good luck with your challenge Fred4win! I'm sure you can do it ;-) Plateaus are normal....most likely it was one of your former weight in the past. Your body remembers everything!! I wish you all great results!
