3.1 miles walked today and also on Saturday; day off Sunday.

The Operation Christmas Child conference on Saturday was a good one and I learned that a bowl or cup is a treasured item in the box - who knew??!! Apparently many of the children receiving these boxes are in areas where rice is distributed. If you don't have some type of container, all you can do is use your hands, sometimes even eating the rice off the ground. After hearing that, you can be sure every box I pack will have some type of container in it, a plastic bowl or cup of some sort.

Today I took the plunge and after doing a bit of OCC school supply shopping (because the prices are so darn good at this time of year), I headed to a swimsuit shop and I actually bought a 2-piece suit! Now, before you say, "What?" let me tell you that this suit will NOT be worn publicly and I probably won't even wear it in front of DH. But despite some saggy skin and 6-pack abs still covered by a mini-waterbed (LOL), it's truly not too bad. I know a tankini would hide the tummy but I'm not fond of that style; I'd rather opt for a one-piece if I were going that route. It was actually a great confidence boost to go shop in the regular section and get a colorful suit that isn't black in the back. I still could use a better-fitting one-piece, but I think I can find better prices on those elsewhere. I may just use the one-pieces I've got until next spring and then buy new.

Sandy - we have participated in OCC for years...and I didn't know that either. I will pass this info along at our school and church. Thank you!!! As for the 2 piece! WOW!!! Even if the squirrels are the only ones who get to see you... That's so great! Much Love!

Good morning!! Thanks for the suggestion about the container. I've prepped boxes of OCC for years and never heard that. Will be happy to share with others. Congrats on your 2 piece -- girl, that's sayin' something! I know it felt good to shop amongst the prettiest pieces in the store. Well done!

oh, and your "6-pack abs still covered by a mini-waterbed" was HIL-AIR-EEEEE-OUS! :D

Sandy - As for the bathing suit - I'm sure it doesn't look half as bad as you make it out to be. Besides - it gives you a new goal to shoot for - smoothing out that tummy. And when you figure out how to do that - please pass it on. I don't remember my tummy being this big the last time I was this weight.

PS - I used to work with a woman from India and whenever she sent a package home she would stack as many plastic tubs (like Cool Whip) as she could because they used them to keep vermin out of their dry goods.

LOL - you should be a comic with that line; 6 pack abs under a waterbed, even a mini one - HAHAHA! Well, onward, (still LOL), I confess I wear a 2 piece too! I can't stand a 1 piece, except for swimming laps, why can't they get them to stay ON the butt? LOL, really I hate swim suits! I don't know who designs some of those things, but Gee Wiz already, do they not realize who is wearing them? One piece ones, if I move my arms the suit goes right up my butt...ouch! LOL - more than you really wanted to know I am sure. So, I tried the tankini thing, that was better on the bottom, but the top...yikes! If I got it to fit the boobs, to darn tight on the bottom part so it would get stuck around my waist leaving the mini waterbed out without sheets so to speak, LOL, so I gave up & went with a regular 2 piece & let it all hang out!

Buffy, I sure do have a goal to do something about the general appearance of my stomach. After this many pounds, however, and "at my age," it could certainly be a lot worse, so I'm thankful for that. Hope your day is going well.

GG - sounds like you need a "long" torso suit....or will that type give you a saggy butt? LOL!! The reason why I'm not fond of tankinis is that the one - and only one - I've had was also skirted. Once in the water, the top got air under it and the skirt was floating up at my waist....all in all, I looked like a big floating elephant in the water - NOT a pretty sight! And it felt weird as well.

Paula & Evie...that tip on the containers was news to me too. We already knew that the plastic boxes themselves are extremely useful beyond being a gift transporter. Anyway, I found these really cute Nerf-type balls at a fabric store, of all places. The cool part is that the outer portion is a map of the world - a mini-globe, if you will! So cool! Hope you both have a great day!

Sandy, congratulations on the 2-piece swimsuit ! I got enough nerve last year before we left for Arizona for the winter, to purchase a 1-piece swimsuit because the resort has a pool and hot tub, and I wanted to enjoy them in the winter months.. Maybe some day I'll get brave as you and get a 2-piece. Again, congratulations !

Notfast - good for you getting that swimsuit! There were a few years when I just couldn't bring myself to have a swimsuit; I was heavy, big, and definitely did not feel like exposing any more of my body to the public than was absolutely necessary. But I love the water and I'm a good swimmer, having been a lifeguard in college and on a swim team when I was younger. So, to go without swimming was a real loss. We had a pool put in at a previous house and I was determined to get back in the water no matter what size I was, so I kept shopping until I found what I considered to be an acceptable one-piece. It was hard, because I wanted them all to instantly transform me into a 115- to 120-pound gal, but I just couldn't find the style to do that! LOL! Bought a suit anyway. I'm glad I finally got started and got back into the water. And, even being in AZ for only half the year, it's a requirement to have a swimsuit, isn't it???!!
