I am pretty proud of myself on my first day of Atkins. Not that I thought I wouldn't be able to handle one day but because I had to go to the grocery last night (for mayo) then I had a meeting and didn't have time to eat first. My choice was to skip the meeting and go home and cook or get something at the grocery store and go to the meeting. When I was considering my options, I automatically knew that if I got something at the grocery it would be from the deli and consist of fried chicken. Not good. But I did decide to go to the meeting and got an Atkins frozen meal instead. I was so proud of myself. And it was so very good. I forget how good Atkins meals are. I try to stay away from most of the convenience products because they trigger my sweet tooth and stall my efforts. The meals, though, don't do that and they are delicious. I even brought one for lunch today and the breakfasts are really helpful for me since I never have time and can't seem to cook something the night before.

This morning was less good. I had some flavored coffee creamer left in the fridge that I couldn't bring myself to throw out. I was going to just let it sit in there til I got the "strength" but decided to use it in my coffee this morning instead of throwing it out. The good news is that its gone. The bad news is that it blew my carbs out for the day. Most importantly, though, its gone and I don't have to worry about it anymore.

My belly has already started bothering me. I am going to work really hard at just working through it. A huge inspiration is this painful bum knee I'm suddenly dealing with. My belly doesn't hurt near as much as the knee and I don't need the belly to stand up or walk or sleep through the night.

I neglected to weigh myself yesterday so I did it this morning. Of course my knees are killing me! In approximately 5 years I have gained 100 lbs. The amazing thing is how numb I become to the gaining. There are milestones that really bother me but then I get used to it and just go on. More accurately, I see the number and then go buy some sweet cake like thing and go on with my life. I see the patterns. I just don't do anything about them.

By the way, I am surrounded by candy. I work with very kind people who bring in chocolates, candy and donuts all the time. I am very proud of how well I am doing ignoring it.

Good Luck on your Atkins journey. Remember 12 to 15 of your Net Carbs from Veggies. Atkins way of eating has been good to me and I hope you find it works for you. Good Luck.

Dont let the coffee thing interfere. Continue with your plan for the rest of the day and stay on track. It might be a good idea to purge your kitchen of non Atkins foods now otherwise they are going to get in the way. If you cant throw or give away, start Atkins when they are gone. I always start or make changes on "grocery" day so I have what I need.

First day or not, your already making excellent choices. You should be proud. It's the little things that catch us all the time. You saw it and conquered. Congratulations.

My name is Rhonda and I am a sugar addict! Total abstinence from sugar for the past 2 months has resulted in the disappearance of the cravings that have plagued me. I hope you can do the same.

Congrats on a successful first day! No matter what eating plan we do, we all do it the same way...one day at a time. Where I work there is candy everywhere too which can be hard, got to just stay away from it.
