Sandy701's Journal, 25 July 2011

3.1 miles walked today after taking the day off yesterday. Still hot and humid, what else is new? A dip in the pool afterward helps so much.

Scale is behaving. I'm optimistic that I can drop one more pound before the end of the month if I can stay on this new plan tweak.

DH is off today and made his ultimate chocolate chip cookies for someone at work whose birthday is tomorrow. Unlike last year, the smell of them did not get to me at all! However, when I got up this morning and saw the mound of freshly baked cookies on the counter, I did say, "Ummmmmm....breakfast!" LOL! No, I had none.

Sandy - Now, don't tell me that wasn't hard - something about chocolate! Wishing you the best on your new experiment. Have you just added Miracle Whip Light to up your carbs?

Ummm...I just love the smell of freshly baked cookies! You did sooo good by not having any. Back in the old days, they would have been breakfast for me too!! I made low carb zucchini bread yesterday, zucchini from my garden too, got the recipe from Atkins site...not bad at all! So very tasty & filling, one slice was enough. In the old days I would have polished off at least 1/2 the loaf, & then went back later for the rest! It is so liberating to not have that carb monkey on my back, begging for more!

My DH also makes his ultimate chocolate chip cookies on occasion. they truly are to die for. I did have one back in April when my parent's were here for the 50th wedding anniversary.

Buffy, no the Miracle Whip Light is just what we had on hand. Other brands have lower carb amounts, but I'm just working with what we have right now. DH is still on a modified calorie counting regimen, so there are some compromises in our frig and pantry. The good news (maybe not for him) is that he thinks he'll need to go back on Atkins because his weight doesn't drop on calorie counting....too many temptations.

Dar, zucchini bread is one of my faves! Of course, I've never tried the low-carb version, in fact there was a zucchini-chocolate bread I made that was also most excellent (as you might imagine).

Paigesgrandma & Paula...yes, it's hard turning away from those cookies. But DH also showed me the batter bowl (also REALLY good stuff...)and mentioned that it was something like close to 7000 calories in that entire batch!! I guess he didn't count the carbs....LOL!
