I'm totally feeling discouraged that I only lost 5 pounds in July. I'm trying to look on the bright side-I'm 5 pounds lighter than the beginning of the month, I'm getting compliments on how much skinnier I look already, I can tell when I look in the mirror, I started exercising daily this month, etc. etc. But I'm my own haggler, I just can't help it. I still touch my tummy and wish it would just go away, and think in terms that I want to be losing 2 pounds a week, and in that case I should have lost at least 8 pounds this month. Ugh. Whatever, I'm doing good and people are noticing and that should be what matters to me, and it does, it's just my impatience lurking around wanting results now.

Five pounds is a big deal! Pick up a five pound weight, or go to the grocery store and pick up 5 bars of butter. That's what you aren't carrying around anymore. Keep your chin up!

Still more than a pound per week, which is really good. Remember, slow and steady wins the race. You don't want to go on a crazy crash diet program because the weight will just pile right back on. It may be slow now, but that's how it's done when you want it to last forever.

And that I do! I'll keep trying to look at things in the long-term. My impatience gets the best of me sometimes, and I need to beat the side of me into the ground! :P

It has helped me in the past to remember that I didn't put it all on overnight so I can't expect to lose it all overnight. But I am right there with you as far as wanting big numbers and those old jeans to fit tomorrow ;)

Five lbs. in one month is awesome. Can't ask for more if you want to keep it off. Trust me, it took me FOUR months to lose 5 lbs. Slow and steady is the way to go and KEEP IT OFF. Keep on doing what you're doing!

You are feeling discouraged at losing 5 pounds during the month of July, I, on the other hand, would be over the moon if I had lost 5 pounds during the month of July. :-) I guess it is all perspective. I think you did amazing. People are noticing, you are noticing the weight loss, and as you said it is 5 pounds less that you were in June. Way to go girl. :-)
