Down a little bit more today. I seem to have got back into the swing of things, now all I have to do is get back to swimming and walking. I did intend to go swimming this morning but it was 8 am when I woke and I need to leave at 7.

Another visitor arriving next wednesday so its getting the guest room prepared etc. Had a day out yesterday to stock up at Mr T. No wonder so many people have problems with their weight when you consider what supermarkets sell. The number of shelves with crisps, biscuits, snacks and pre prepared meals etc compared to the number with fresh foods and ingredients to make things at home was astonishing. There was just one aisle with things like dried fruit, cornstarch, flour etc. and one for fruit and veg. I went on about it all the way home. Unhealthy food everywhere. I didn't feel tempted by it but it took forever to find what I did want. You'd have thought I was asking for gold dust when I couldn't find Cayenne pepper. OK rant over.

Now that I'm eating properly again I feel so much better - still can't work out why I do it while I'm away from home. I'm coming round to thinking that normally when you meet up with friends and eat out its probably only once or twice a week and a little indulgence doesn't make too much difference, but when I go away its all packed into a short time and I very often eat lunch and dinner out for maybe 10 days and people think they are being kind by treating you to all sorts of things you wouldn't normally eat. I think I'm going to invent a mystery illness next time because saying no thanks doesn't work too well and I end up putting on loads. This last trip has cost me almost 3 months weight loss.

I'm really looking forward to volunteering. I think I will be making 'life books' for newly diagnosed alzheimers sufferers so that they will be able to have a record of their extended family an important things they have done in their life so they will have something staff can see and they can look at it to remind themselves. I bet some of them have done amazing things. It will be good to have some time apart from OH. He is quite well now but still relies on me as he did when he was ill. He even asked me if he should put the light on today! Perhaps this will make him think for himself a bit more.

This has turned into quite a ramble but hey, its what I was thinking. Have a happy healthy eating weekend

So true about what we are finding on our (super)markets shelves these days. I'll bet some of the stuff is so artificial, or so heavily packed with preservatives, that it has a shelf life of ten years.

Hey, that's great that you're back to your healthy ways! I like your idea of the 'mystery illness' - maybe something with dire lower intestinal consequences would scare people off from feeding you! :) Your volunteer opportunity is such a wonderful thing to do! Maybe you need to make a 'life book' for your OH to remind him of all HE can do without you. ;) Have a wonderful weekend!

I've been noticing that steady decline in your numbers!! Good for you!! Don't think of it as 3 months "lost" ... it simply is what it is and you did have a very good time!!! Those pounds will go away again. It was a very special occasion!! Each time I go away and come back home to an increase on the scale I've gotten just a tad better at getting right back into the swing of things ... and noticing when I do the gains appear to be relatively short-lived. You'll be back to exercising in no time!! I love the "life book" idea ... and Amy's in particular!! LOL!!! Keep up the good work ... and so glad you are feeling better!!
