I had a beautiful trip to a museum today: our website is www.joblane.org and we are a very small museum! Since I am on the Board of Directors, I had to be at the site watering the blueberry bushes that we just planted in the back, stepping around the poison ivy and trying to get my gallon buckets over there - blueberries are on the shrubs already, because we paid $80 apiece for them, but I think the birds will get them all and why not - we do not need the quart of blueberries! Bluejays will eat the green berries so there is no protecting them, though one director thinks we ought to get netting. Anyway, all I could think of was food, of course, but these days I am trying to eat fresh unprocessed food so I let my mind wander to the edibles in our meadow while I figured out the hose system. Blueberries are abundant here in Massachusetts, so I have been eating them every day - good fiber! - and there are rhubarb, horseradish, blackberries, and grapes at our little museum. My lucky find for the day, though, was mint. I tried a shrimp recipe for a 2 or 3 point dinner with corn. Recipe is Shrimp with Mint Basil Pesto by Giada on the food channel.

Anyway, here is a confession: I am a really bad cook. I followed the recipe, mostly, but I think I overcooked some shrimp and undercooked some, and then heated the pesto and burnt it so it was really bitter! I fantasize about being the next Food Network star - but really if it doesn't involve cake, I am not at all talented in the kitchen!

Weighed in this morning down a half a pound though! And I rode my bike to the grocery store 2 miles to get basil.
