Heaven help me I drank the kool-aid. I've been doing a lot of research lately on whole food plant based eating. I've decided to give it a shot. Basically what it is is if it's a whole food, and it came from a plant, eat it. If it didn't, don't eat it. The only thing I am questioning, which means I must not have drunk all my kool-aid, is they don't consider oil a whole food. I mean some, yes, but olive oil and coconut oil why not?

I'm not losing any weight currently. Obviously I need to change up something. I've been reassessing what I've been eating and I've decided there's still a lot of junk. My non dairy coffee creamer is mostly chemicals. I switched to unsweetened almond milk. My bread I eat is not whole wheat. I'm trying to cut out cheese. I say trying because the girlfriend really, really doesn't like that part, she loves cheese. Possibly more than she loves me, no maybe not. To surprise me after a 12 hour day yesterday she ordered pizza. I didn't want to hurt her feelings. Besides I'm viewing this transition as a process, not a do or die. That's usually when I fail. I have to be patient with myself or I get frustrated at me and we fight.

I found a few channels on YouTube I really love and I've been trying their recipes. I made some tofu bacon Sunday for dinner, and had a bacon, avocado, tomato sandwich. The girlfriend was eating the tofu straight from the pan. I was just cracking up. Previously she has shoved the tofu to the side on her plate. This day she was eating it straight up. I had also made mac and cheese using cauliflower. It was not great. She was kind though and said she liked it. I also made mayo from avocado which is now my new love! Don't tell my girlfriend I said that. I'm really having fun with this new way of eating. It's definitely a challenge.

Tonight at dinner my mom asked if I had enough to eat because I was vegetarian. She's cute. Let's see, I had potatoes, carrots, cabbage, green beans, slaw made with avocado mayo, and bread. Um, yeah I'd say I had enough. They only thing she had that I didn't eat was the corned beef. She also said she really liked my avocado slaw if she put meat on it. Oh gee, thanks. Yeah, my family loves my cooking. At least she tried it.

One thing I have noticed since I've cut back on cheese I've been more *ahem* regular. Today we had to have our sewer snaked out...because there were TREE ROOTS IN IT! Stop it! I know what you were thinking! Fun stuff that. Nothing like washing dishes and hearing the toilet overflow. Pretty neat!

Ok, well I just popped in to distract myself from counting parts. One teeny tiny claw cap screw, two teeny tiny claw cap screws... you get the picture.

I never say never because I'm still learning what to eat. :) I remember saying I would never eat raw broccoli. I love it steamed. Near the broccoli in the produce section I found bags of "broccoli slaw" which are like julienned or matchstick raw broccoli. I love them in a salad or wrapped with cheese in a low carb high fiber tortilla. Sorry I mentioned cheese. ;)

lol dang it. Cheese, why must you be so tasty? I have a very short list of foods I hate. It includes seaweed, rye bread, mushrooms, and bleu cheese. It's nothing personal against mushrooms, I just don't like eating dirt. The other 3 things are just pure evil.

Broccoli slaw used to be my staple in salads. InstantCrazy - change up and try different things - it will shake up the process and the metabolism. I switched to Low Carb High Fat and am finally losing again...

Oils aren't technically whole foods because they are 'processed' even though nothing is added or taken away.If you used a bit of coconut oil I dont think the whole foods police would come drag you away...maybe..

I'm sorry I can't hear you the whole foods police are dragging me out of the door... I'll trade you. You count my crap, I'll count yours. Mine is a MESS! and in three different places. It's why I'm counting it. Inspection is soon and everything needs to be perfect, but I'm not even sure what parts I have to make the perfect happen. ugh. 68 strapy thingys, 69 strapy thingys...

Love experimenting with the foods. Good luck with your experiments. They do sound good. I too, would settle for losing anything in the weight departments. Seems I keep losing the same 5 lbs and finding the d#@# 5 lbs again! This phase will pass eventually :) Have fun!!
