Debbie Cousins's Journal, 09 September 2022

Thank you so much, everybody, for the love, support and prayer yesterday. We got the pool closed in about 7 hours of work. God answered our prayers for NO wind! It was completely calm when it was time to put the cover on, PTL! Everything went very smoothly. We had three other people to help us for getting the three 4-foot pillows centered in the middle of the pool. Thankfully, I did not have to go INTO the pool for us to accomplish this step!

Yesterday, we could not find the Pool Wrap from last year. It is like plastic wrap that you wrap around the edge of the cover so wind doesn't get underneath it. I ordered it on Amazon and it will be here today. Once that arrives, we will wrap the pool 2-3 times (it will take 3 people to do it), and then all we have to do is put on the leaf cover, which is very light, and my husband and I may be able to manage that by ourselves. If not, my twin friends are on-call to help.

Weight down another 2/10 of a pound this morning, praise the Lord! Sometimes, when I go into another weight range (240's to 230's) I'll go back and forth a little before settling in. Thankfully, that's not the case this time. I need to go into my profile and set another goal now that I have achieved my first 20-pound loss! Oh wait, even though I've lost 20 pounds, the goal weight was 239, not 239.8, as I thought. Oh well, I still feel like I've accomplished the goal (which, in my head, was to get under 240).

I think for my next goal, I will make it 225.8. It's only 14 pounds to that point, but I like the idea of weighing "only" 225. Then for the next goal, I'll make it 200!

Thank you again, to everyone who has supported me and (especially) prayed for me. God has been good, and the past 10-1/2 weeks have been relatively painless. I only really struggled one day, but I made it through.

I allowed myself 4 cans of Diet Coke yesterday instead of the usual 3. I don't foresee doing that again any time in the near future, though I am total comfortable with having done it yesterday and Wednesday. OH, even though I got very hot and my knees are really complaining today, the weather was perfect yesterday. It was only 79, but it was overcast, so no direct sun shining on us. Perfect day!

In addition to wrapping the pool and putting on the leaf net, we also need to bring in everything we took OFF of the pool (pump, hoses, vacuum, etc.) We have an industrial 4-tier shelf where we store the pool stuff. Time to organize that and try to fit everything on it, along with all of the pool chemicals, which have been on a bench in my dining room since we opened the pool in early May. All of that will take some time, but we can do it in little segment throughout the day, so it won't seem so daunting.

I'm praying all my FS friends (that's YOU, reading this!) will have a great day today. May you have the motivation to get started, the dedication to keep going, and the will-power to resist any of the foods that are not on your WOE. Blessings to you!

Yay, for getting so much done yesterday and that you didn't have to go into the pool. I wanted to say yesterday about your journal and getting rid of expired things. Certainly, the almond flour would expire if it wasn't refrigerated, and I just learned that oatmeal, even old-fashioned will only last about 3 months if not sealed. But the "Best by date" on cans is the last date that the store can sell them. That is not a date that they have expired for "use". Little by little after that date, the nutrients will slowly lower, but they still are protein, etc. I am using tuna from 2015 and many other things too. Acid foods like tomatoes go bad the quickest or flip top cans. You have to look at things and make sure the seals look good, and that they aren't bulging. I don't hear you talk about the coming food shortages or rising prices. Most of the cans I have bought for an emergency have doubled in price. We have no "investments" but even if we did they probably would not double in a year. Probably food will double again this next year. I saw Choice rib steaks at Trader Joe's for 19.99 a pound. Some people are predicting $50.00 a pound beef. Oh, and by the way, Ghee keeps a very long time. I made some last year. I don't see many others talking about the food or money problems ahead. Except for Kenna Morton, she knows its coming. Hope your knees get better. Love ya, sister.

Yay, Debbie! Just knew you would break into the 230’s. Being busy organizing, tidying and socializing while doing it is so good for us and our distraction from eating. You go girl
