There is nothing like driving a long distance in freezing rain to bring the 87 year old grandma out of your soul and put her in the driver's seat. I pulled into the parking lot at my storage unit and I was driving perpendicular to the direction I was pointed. The problem with being stressed out while driving is you look for something to distract you from the semi that is in the median which apparently took out the fire truck and the suv. Unfortunately what you find is the box of wheat thins you hastily grabbed on the way out of the door. I think the crunching was cathartic. When I realized what I was doing I started crunching on them like a rabbit with my front teeth to eat more slowly. Hopefully this doesn't cause a 5lb gain. Be safe out there people!

I hate, hate, hate ice...I wouldn't be able to eat anything because I'd also the 87 yo gramma but I would have a death grip on the steering wheel, both hands, and my neck in spasms from the tension. I wouldn't be able pick up the crunches. Glad you are safe.

Driving on ice is a great booty workout for me, because I literally stay tensed the whole time I'm in the car. I really feel if the next day! LOL I drive a sports car, and they do not do well in rain, much less ice, so I keep a death grip on the wheel too.

Had to smile at the image of you nibbling the crackers with your front teeth. I've done that too to try and slow down the intake, hope it worked for you better than it does for me.

ViggieJunkie, I have a 4 wheel Jeep Cherokee, 4 wheel does not help in the ice. I hurt for several days after driving in it very far.

WFN-That is so true! DH has a Jeep Wrangler. Nothing does well on ice.

lol ice discriminates against no one. I keep all my stress in my jaw, I'm a teeth grinder, so the crunching helps. The rabbit nibbling did help since I was just doing it for stress relief. I'm OK driving in bad weather, it's the other drivers who stress me out. The ice was all gone yesterday. I was on a different interstate and passed a car on its roof about 2 car lengths away from the interstate. Those are the drivers that scare me. You can not speed, or do the speed limit on ice for that matter. Most of the time I drive in low gear through town.
