CHANGES IN RMR WITH WEIGHT LOSS ARE NOT PREDICTIVE OF WEIGHT REGAIN
Many people blame weight regain after weight loss on "slow metabolisms." While it is true that metabolic rate can slow down with weight loss, the degree to which it slows down is not sufficient to be responsible for weight regain.
This is from the June 2020 issue of the Weightology Research Review. I reviewed a study that examined Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) in people who lost 10+ kilograms of body weight. The researchers then followed up with the subjects at 1 and 2 years. They examined whether RMR after weight loss was predictive of long-term weight regain.
It wasn't. As you can see from the graph, there was no discernible relationship between metabolic slowdown (the difference between predicted and measured RMR) and weight regain. This graph shows the results for 1 year. The results were similar for 2 years.
What is predictive of long-term weight regain is overall physical activity levels. Keep physical activity levels and non-exercise activity thermogenesis (NEAT) high to help keep the weight off after you've lost it.

Lol - I don't even know what my RMR is, yet I can tell you what my cutting, maintenance, and bulking calories are almost to the calorie

I know what it stands for, silly boy. I just don't know what my number is... Somewhere between 1200 and 3700 depending on the day.
