BrandyRelaxing's Journal, 29 March 2011

Okay... so today I agreed that if my hubby doesn't emotional eat this week, I'll get below 300 by the end of April... given the rate, it's pretty achievable, but is definitely going to require some dedicated exercise! I will apologize in advance for any whiny journals about muscles hurting or other exercise related whining! :)

I think that's totally doable. But I don't get the part about your hubby...are you saying your success is depending on how he eats? Please tell me I misunderstood that.

I don't get the part about your hubby, do you mean you allow him to sabbotage your efforts? Knock that off!

I am the emotional eater in my house... my husband could go all day without eating! It's very hard to follow your plan when your spouse isn't doing the same. You think, "oh, I could do that too and it won't mess me up too bad." But, it does. I know it's not your husband's fault, it's yours, but his decisions really do impact my decisions...

I have the same problem with the emotional eating. it's hard to change those habits and it's something that I personally fight with (and sometimes lose) everyday. And it really is hard if your hubby isn't on board. But I DO let him know my moods so that he can help. Maybe your hubby can do the same with you that way so you can help him out and still stay on track?

Noooo... my hubby wants to eat a bunch of crap because he's stressed out at work (which I told him that he shouldn't), soooo.... he told me that if he didn't emotional eat, then I had to push to get below 300 by the end of April... so if he's dedicated, I'm dedicated.

And my DH has actually been really good, and stuck to eating a reasonable amount, so I think we're on track! I just have to work to keep up my end of the bargain and exercise my butt off to meet the goal!

Ohhh I get it. So these are goals you've both set for yourselves to keep each other motivated...that is awesome! I guess the way you worded it sounded weird, lol. I hope you're dedicated regardless...saying "...IF he's dedicated, I'm dedicated" isn't the best wording either. It's great if you can both work on weight loss together, but you can't let your success hinge on his. I can't think of anything that would make me stop working on my weight loss & I'm dead serious about that. No matter what happens (& things have happened all along the way, believe that), I'll deal with it AND continue working on my weight loss. My health is too important.

I think he's pushing me and I'm pushing him is more like it. I am still motivated to keep losing, but I think if I was on it just on my own, I'd probably have given myself as long as I needed to get below 300... so it's more of a motivation thing... well that and I have told myself that when I get below 300 lbs, I want to look at buying an eliptical machine... We have a treadmill and a bike, which is amazing, but I think an eliptical machine is a bit more of an aerobic workout.

An elliptical will be a great investment! Particularly for those of us at higher weights, the low-impact of an elliptical makes it an excellent choice for cardio. I have definitely used it a lot in the past, & will return to it after my 5k. I'm sure my knees will thank me, lol.
