I think I need to change my diet on here again, to be on my own diet, and just keep it there.

Over time, I have seen that the perfect diet for me is as elusive as the perfect fitting pair of jeans! One pair has the perfect length, but gaps around my waist. Another fits great around my hips, but won't snap! But, obtaining the perfect diet for me is easier actually than finding those perfect jeans, if they even exist. What I have come to realize is that many of the things I have tried over the years have taught me something about my body as a system, and how it reacts favorably or unfavorably to what I put in it. I have started to find a group of health "gurus" that I can learn from and get ideas of what I might be able to do to tweak and improve my health and reach a better balance. I have come to a place where losing weight or fat is not the ultimate goal here. Rather it is a side benefit on the way to better health. Not losing is simply a symptom that something is not working in what I am doing right now, and I need to examine and adjust.

These are some of my favorite gurus:

Sean Croxton of Underground Wellness. His slogan is JERF; Just Eat Real Food. He is down to earth, and regularly interviews people who are smart, and pushing the field of wellness forward. I have found several other good people to follow through his podcasts.

Dave Asprey of Bulletproof Executive, Bulletproof Coffee and Bulletproof Diet. He is a little extreme in my book, but he is smart, and very research driven. He has taught me the value of clean food. And Bulletproof Coffee has done some amazing things for my health and well being. I have had to make tweaks to the formula to adapt for the fact that I can't do dairy anymore, and ghee does not froth, but it still delivers.

J.J. Virgin of The Virgin Diet. I am sorry, but I find the name Virgin Diet unfortunate. Actually kept me from investigating it for awhile. Turns out, it has had tremendous benefits for me. She has a strong background in nutritional and immune response, and how this affects our bodies balance. Through using her protocol I was able to identify several food groups that I need to avoid if I want to manage my autoimmune conditions, and be in better balance to lose weight.

Jimmy Moore, of Livin' La Vida Low Carb, and Keto Clarity, and Cholesterol Clarity. Jimmy is just a regular joe, who was severely overweight; more than 400 lbs. He lost 180 pounds, and started sharing his journey, and along the way he began a blog, and then a podcast to share what he learned with others. He connected with many experts in the field of nutrition and has learned and shared beyond what most people can or would do. He is down to earth, and crystal clear in the way he communicates concepts that are not too easy to grasp the first time (or first few times) around.

Gary Taubes. Gary is a science writer for the New York Times, Science magazine and has written several books. In addition to a degree in journalism, he has a degree in Physics. He is smart, and knows how to get into the weeds, and figure out what is going on. He has written Good Calories, Bad Calories, and Why We Get Fat, and What to Do About It. The second is more readable. Kind of a condensed version of the first. That book got me started on my low carb journey and made a dramatic turn in my health and well-being.

Dr. Lustig of the video Sugar: The Bitter Truth. One day I happened upon Dr. Lustig's video on YouTube, and sat and watched the whole hour plus. I was stunned when it was over. I knew sugar wasn't good for me. But I never realized in how many ways it was undermining any attempts I made to be healthy. That day I began my work to eliminate sugar in it's various forms from my life.

Do you have any "gurus" that have helped you on your journey?
