shiny50's Journal, 22 July 2021

I have been maintaining for several months now which is not good. I still need to lose another 50-70 pounds to reach a healthy BMI. Simple logic is that I am taking in too many calories and not expending enough in return. We are moving next month and after that, I plan to get something for aerobic exercise. I need something low impact like a recumbant bike. I also need to focus on night time snacking and either stop altogether or replace with healthier alternatives. I have lost nearly 90 pounds to date, and can feel the difference. I can only imagine how much better I will feel when I lose the remaining weight.

Sounds like a plan. Now that you've shared it with all of us, be sure to follow through. We'll be watching. For me, actually stopping late night eating was very difficult but it made a huge difference in my weight loss. I suggest you try that. You clearly know what you're doing. You got this. You really do.

Excellent progress! Why wait to complete your transformation? You don't need some machine. If you want to exercise, you can go for a walk right now. And you can also make the dietary changes you know are necessary right now. Let's go!

Shiny, I allow myself dessert after dinner. It could be something as simple as 1/2 cup of sugar free jello with whipped cream or a low cal Outshine fruit bar (frozen) or a small slice of cake (now that I'm in maintenance). That is my signal to "Close the kitchen" til breakfast. If you absolutely can't resist something later make sure you have some low cal choices on hand.

I struggled with snacking at night too. It was either out of stress or boredom. When I started limiting calories I had to plan snacks every 2 hours. At first they were always small sugary snacks under 200 cals. Eventually I ended up replacing them with a high protein Greek yogurt. The protein helped keep me satisfied most of the night. But, what really stopped me was bad acid reflux to the point where I had to stop eating at least 4 hours before bedtime. Now that I'm in maintenence I have been using my extra calories for sweets. But I still have that Greek yogurt most nights. It really helps take the edge off. I also drink 2 cups of herbal tea and chew lots of gum when I'm watching tv. Hope you can find something that will help! You've done an amazing job so far!!!
