haleysmom's Journal, 14 February 2011

OK, so I ate a lot for dinner yesterday and I had a cheeseburger for lunch. I also went skiing for about 4 hours and I burned more than I consumed. Plus, that shouldn't have hit the scale TODAY anyway.

So WHY did I gain 4 pounds overnight? And if it is possible to gain 4 pounds overnight, why am I even doing this? I've journaled, I've been eating and I did lose 4 pounds, now BAM....right back to square 1.

How frustrating is this? The urge to punish myself is now stronger than ever. I knew eating all this food wasn't going to make me get thin or healthy. I KNEW it. So why did I do it. The only way to get it off is to not eat. Anything. I'm fat. Therefore, I don't deserve food again until I'm thin. End of story.

hi haleysmom - feeling like a stalker for reading this (sorry!), but i saw it and it just sounds a lot like me & what i'm going through, too. i just gained about 5 lbs in a weekend (that included a TON of physical activity) and it is so defeating...i sometimes try to restrict too much, and then it backfires on me and i lose control. i spent a good # of years pretty much starving myself and screwed up my metabolism as well, such that when i did eat food, even within a decent calorie range, i would gain weight. bleh. i sometimes tell myself i'll go back to that, b/c at least then i was thinner, but cognitively i know it's not a way out, b/c it can't be maintained in the long run. it sounds like you're heading there so i just wanted to reach out and if anything let you know you're not alone. hope this doesn't bother you, and sorry if it does!

looking at both of your diet history's you need to look at the carb intake...both of you are overdosing on carbs..do some research and see what works, look at the days you lost weight and see what you took in that achieved that..also soda is a killer, switch to diet ALWAYS, I drink at least a sixpack of diet mountain dew a day...and my last point is just because your RDI with excercise says 2500 calories, doesnt mean you need to eat 2500 calories...I stick around 1000 or so a day, I indulge on occasion and I even took 2 weeks off to boost my metabolism when I stopped loosing regularly and still lost 2 lbs in that 2 weeks..before this I was a garbage disposal, if it was greasy and fattening it was in my mouth, last summer I weighed 192 lbs, the first of the year I was 180 and since I started this Jan 2 I am down to 159, it can be done, you just need to analyze your diet calender and figure out what worked and what needs to change..and dont forget to update you RDI when your weight changes it may go down, which would account for no weight loss as well, mine has gone from 1900 down to 1500 now.
