Today's Friday, and I'm on week 2 of successful fasting. I had a couple of pieces of turkey this morning to take the edge off my hunger, and a diet coke with lemon for the caffeine energy boost. I don't like coffee. So I'm feeling good, strong, energetic. I've started painting again, getting my house clean.

As to the fasting technique, if anyone is curious, I've done it before. This was my way of losing weight when I was younger, but I never really thought of it as a "technique." All the hype about the lower metabolism, although true in the short run -- the metabolism gets used to the new change and settles into it, and you begin to lose weight. My brother lost 50+ pounds a couple of years ago this way, very deliberate fasting on his part. And my sister, and my best friend, both stay skinny this same way. My sister had told me she started it when she was working. She would get too tired after lunch to work, so she just stopped having lunch, and she had much more energy. I'm not saying that it would fit everyone. I'm not necessarily recommending it. But I like it!

Anyhoo, just thought I'd fill ya all in. Have a great day!!!!!

Congrats on your second week! I'm glad it's working for you. Maybe I'll try it sometime. If I'm really stuck. We'll see.

I have mixed thoughts on this one. One one hand, I am glad it's working for you and you are feeling pretty good about it. On the other hand, you need food to nourish your body. That is what natural real food was designed to do- not junkie stuff. I think if we could just get ourselves to eat mainly the good real stuff and not the other stuff, we would all be naturally super thin. But that is hard to do of course. Keep us updated on your progress. I hope you lose, but I hope you are also at peace with what you eat and don't feel like it's only going to work against you.

Ya, I gotta go with livelifefully on this one. I know you are feeling in control with this method and it may very well help you lose weight. But the problem with sporatic eating is not only that it slows your metabolism but, more specifically, it lowers your basal metabolism. That means that you end up requiring fewer calories to stay alive which translates into gaining weight more easily if you go over that new, lower limit. I'm all for finding something that works but I like to be able to eat more, too. Best of luck, all the same.
