FitOKay's Journal, 14 March 2014

Yesterday was my first weigh in for several days and I forgot to weigh in the morning after waking. I assumed the non fasting weight was a bit high but didn't think it was almost 2lbs high. I just don't feel like I've done enough since 160lbs for that drop (and I've been at maintenance calories most of the last couple weeks from being too sick to care about calorie limiting). I'm not complaining by any means... just a bit miffed. The last two weeks weren't dissimilar to the three years I had such bad lungs. During that time I never gained or lost weight. I have never gained weight outside pregnancy in my adult life, but with both pregnancies I was about 185 when the boys were born. I stayed within a five pound range of the ~175 after having my youngest son until dropping several pounds at the beginning of last year, which I stalled at til trying again at the beginning of this year.

Honestly I was bummed to be having so much trouble with my lungs the last couple weeks, not only cause it harkened back to when I was so sick with lung issues, but also because of the halt in weight loss it should have meant. I suppose, unrealistically, I thought now I had given up on running my lungs wouldn't have the bad weeks and weight loss would be smoother.

Still, none of that explains a 2 pound loss while sick at maintenance calories o.0 I am going to take this as a blessing and with a grain of salt (in case this weigh in was an anomaly) and move on.

Sorry to write a book, hope everyone else is doing well. The boys and I are going to spend part of the day outside, it's windy but warmish. What's weather elsewhere like?

Sunny and 50F in Denver! I am going on a bike ride, I think. A 2 pound drop is pretty small and easily explained by fluid fluctuations - it does look like you went lower on carbs than you usually do. When I do that, I tend to drop some fluid. You'll probably know more tomorrow. Too bad about the lung issues - I'm wondering if lifting weights would be a good alternative exercise for you. More muscle => increased calorie burn => weight loss!

That's a good point on the carbs and water weight. The last couple weeks I've been eating eggs more often for breakfast where normally I eat fruit. I ate fruit today, but am eating tuna salad right now for lunch (lent) so that'll be less carbs again then my normal sandwhiches. Idk about weight lifting. I've never done more then at hoe strength training (crunches, push ups, etc...) my husband weight lifts regularly, so maybe I'll have him show me the ropes and see how it goes. Thank you for the idea and enjoy the bike =)

It's about 62 here in Richmond Va. I think you are doing a great job especially with the challenges you have with your lungs. You should try the weights and see how they feel. Whatever you decide to do, you have alot of support doing it.

In Singapore it has been dry and hot since the beginning of February. For the last two months, we did not have any rain except for the west (just about 30 minutes of rain altogether). For a month now the city is filled with harmful haze from the burning in Sumatra. I have not had much outdoor exercise since the haze started - don't want to get more harm then good trying to do exercise in the haze.

Don't be hard on yourself! You have all the time in the future to correct anything! :) Also, when you're sick, your body needs extra energy to fight the disease. It's like a castle under siege ;) That probably explains it. You're not doing physical effort on a muscle scale, but you're doing an effort on a cellular scale :). It's great that you are ok now! That's the most important! The weather here is cold again lol (relatively speaking to how it was a couple days ago...). I don't know what happened. The weather has been unpredictable lately :)

You have been doing a great job! Nothing like getting outside to enjoy some nice weather ;)I'm also going to do that! Warm here today, chance of snow tomorrow :/ The weather here is kind of like my dieting has been in the last few days lol! But I'm betting on some sunshine and fresh air to restart my thoughts~ Hope you have a wonderful day / weekend! Keep up that awesome work :)
