debbra's Journal, 05 February 2009

I'm a little embarrassed by this, but I know my FS family understands me and won't be hard on me. Well, my new diet lasted exactly 13 hours. I'm gonna revamp it again. It's going to have to include carbs. I just can't last a day without them. So that experiment went awry. But I'm going to try a more Core type plan, still trying to stay away from the sugar and bread.

I'm gonna do a little complaining now to get this out of my system. So for anyone who wants to stop reading, I totally understand. But for those who are gonna read, just imagine a high pitched wailing sound to my voice.

Oh, I wish this were easier! Why is it that sometimes dieting is easy and other times it's so difficult? I can't seem to keep things smooth and even, to keep things going. My relationship with food is the one relationship I have that is not successful. I'm a great wife, a great mom, a great daughter, sister, aunt, a great friend. But with food, I'm a mess. I succumb to many a temptation. I go down the wrong path. If I don't keep my full concentration, food will come up behind me and bite right on the a$$!

Whoo! I needed that! :)

haha oh deb i love your blogs because i completely understand and it feels so good to have someone who gets it. although i will say i totally knew you couldnt go without the carbs (not that you arent awesome) but carbs are just too hard to get rid of for those of us who have them as a very MAIN staple in our foods. as for dieting being hard. oh man you said it!i was just getting ready to blog bout that. I dont think dieting is ever really "easy". Its always frustrating that you can gain 10 pounds in a week and sometimes take a year to lose it. I think sometimes we set unrealistic goals for ourselves (like when i see Biggest Loser and they drop double digits in a week and it took me over a month and im only down 8 pounds). You just have to know that dieting IS hard and its a very slow process if you are going to do it the healthy way. But you know what, were forcing ourselves to learn patience. never be scared to ask those around you for help either.

I don't blame you one bit honey! REALLY! We are meant to eat a variety of foods from all the food groups so trying to cut any one out is not only stressful but it can even be unhealthy. The old saying about everything in moderation is so true and living in that way has been the key for me to be able to stick to my new lifestyle for this time and not get bored. :) While the loss is slower it is still occurring and that is what counts. Be kind to yourself and know you will succeed if you keep your chin up and do what is healthy for you. :))

You're singing my song right now, Debbra. Unfortunately I am with Karen in knowing you couldn't do without carbs. You'll find your right formula though. Maybe you should look into their newest plan...Momentum. It's supposed to be eating more "filling foods". That might be a good thing for you. For me, too.
