crabby Kat's Journal, 13 January 2014

The sun is shining, its a beautiful day, but I feel like I'm sitting here with my own personal cloud over my head. :o(

I'm still recovering from the virus that gave me bronchitis and asthma, slowly. I spoke to my primary care doctor's advice nurse today, and she told me that I should not go to Zumba. She said that my resistance is low, and I'm susceptible to any other virus that is out there. I need to keep using one of my inhalers, the steroid one that can lower my resistance even more. Wahhhhhh! Apparently, high-energy sweaty exercise taxes your immune system.

Three weeks from today I'll be in surgery, having a total knee replacement. I can't afford to be sick.

Before long I'll be rearranging the living room so I can do my Wii Zumba; I'll go nutso if I have to quit Zumba 3 weeks early!

love to do zumba at home... how do you access this? you say Wii Zumba is this on line? Hope you get lots of vitamin D today that will help dispel some of the cloud over your head..how about a gentle walk instead of the intensity of Zumba cos just getting outside amongst it gives you some feel good endorphins? best wishes

Awhiahi, a walk sounds good. I have some new cross-trainer shoes that I should put on and try out while the sun is shining. I have a Wii console, which hooks up to my TV. I have to Zumba games that I use; you dance along with the instructor and dancer and it's lots of fun. If you google Zumba, you could probably find some videos you can dance along with. Lazy Groove Zumba Dance, Claudia Leitte, is one that comes to mind. The singer and Beto Perez (guy who started Zumba) show you how to dance to the song. It was great when an instructor put on that song in class, did that routine, and I knew how to do all the moves. Thank you for bringing up that happy memory!

I'm new, would like to encourage you. I have the same bug, also have the asthma, on the prednisone and all the rest. Heed the doctor, there will be time for more when you won't get sick again. Use this time for meal planning and journal writing, maybe?

I'm so sorry sweetie - I know you love your zumba but let's think of it as part of that 'everything in moderation' and give your body a break. you need all the strength you can keep for getting better and getting thru that surgery.

Hope you feel better soon. I've had a virus for about a week now and it's getting old, let me tell you--LOL. I finally went for my first walk at lunch today. Trust me, this was no "power walk" because I had shin splints and my feet felt like clumps--LOL. Don't let any cloud hang over your head. You need to get better and a positive attitude has a lot to do with that! Just think of all the wonderful changes you are going through. You're becoming a whole new person!

Pay attn to your doc if you have asthma . Was diagnosed in the mid 80's. I do pretty well as long as my drugs keep it under control. Am just getting through a bout of pneumonia respiratory viruses can quickly escalate --I had no virus this time but have been there many times. Also if you get wheezy or your chest hurts while exercising stop and rest. Actually yoga is good for your breathing.

I know it sucks but you have to do as your doc and staff advise. If you don't get rid of this virus the surgery may be moved and you don't want that so be a good girl and let your body heal :)
