Try to eat healthier the rest of the day and you might feel a little bit better. Then do better tomorrow. It works for me.

LOL You have no idea what you got into when you sent me a buddy request! ;) Thanks, too. I love having support, and I hope I can support you through your changes. First, please don't beat yourself up for eating a few cookies. Be sure to count the calories in your food journal and move on. Since you don't want to waste them, try doling them into plastic baggies one or two per bag and freeze them. Then you will either forget they are there or you can take out one bag at a time to enjoy, but not binge on. You might even find you lose the inclination to eat them while they are thawing. (Don't use the microwave.) Alternatively, you could send them to work with your dad, or take them to friends at school. However, learning to throw things out, no matter how well-meant when a gift, or how expensive when it was you or your family that brought them into the house, is a very VERY useful skill.

morningmoon had very good advice to split them out into reasonable portion sizes. I have portion control issues and I view whatever I open as 1 portion (an entire bag of chips ahoy's one portion right?)Divide them and put them away for later. Don't let one slip ruin your day. Count the rest of the day and remember - it's a 'liveit', not a 'diet!' You need to have good and reasonable habits but also that it's something you can apply for the rest of your life. Good luck!

I agree about not beating yourself up over a few cookies. I have tried a new approach in how to be successful in leading a more healthful lifestyle and here are a few things I have discovered. In the past, I was really really rigid in my eating and working out to the point I would just get burnt out and stop after I reached a certain level of fitness and weight loss. I found that denying yourself a treat and then breaking down and having some, more than you should, but not enough for it to hinder your progress and then feeling bad about it is a cycle that a lot of people fall into. Now, I have stopped being SO over the top with denying. I try to incorporate a desert or sweet to balance everything....if I end up eating a little more say low fat ice cream, well, then I will just eat less lunch or dinner. You need to balance your calories and stick to your workouts. Even if you do have a little slip up throughout the week, don't give up on your workouts. Always do your best to try to make it up to yourself if you feel a little down by going out for a quick 15 min walk.
