This weekend was a bad food weekend for me. Starting over today.

Moved my husband's grandmother's cabinet out of the garage and into the house Saturday. I was going to repaint it before bringing it in...but we have had it for 4-5 years and not done yet. I was tired of waiting to use it. Son helped me move it in. Then the entire family was asking why I didn't repaint it before moving it inside... It is truly a shabby chic piece. Paint peeling on it and off white paint off exposes a dark brown color under it. I love the look of it now...would have sold things that looks like it for bucko bucks when I was selling furniture! Evidently my family does not like the look of it though LOL! Never mind I have loaded the cabinet with all my canning that I have been doing. I think each shelf is holding about 27 jars...times 3 shelves...which is 81 jars of pickles and tomato soup. There are 3 extra jars that are double stacked so I have 7 dozen jars waiting for consumption. Then I have used at least a dozen jars of things already or given them away. So I canned at least 8 dozen jars of food this summer/fall. Looks wonderful behind the glass doors!

Son was laughing that it didn't take me long to fill that up! (he had left home for a day) I told him the bottom shelves and two drawers were still empty! After all I had decided to bring it in to store my canning conveniently in the kitchen instead of a damp cellar in the basement. (I know that the cooler cellar is a better option.) Now deciding what clutter is going to be placed in there. Have to decide soon...otherwise hubby will fill it with some of his stuff! The kids and I had a big family talk about how when Dad sees cleaned off areas he claims the space. Love you Dave...but you have to leave the rest of us some areas to put our stuff too!

That is my new mission...to organize my home. I am tired of never knowing where things are. I spend too much time trying to find things! I know we have them...just don't know where. Does anyone else have that problem?

Looks like you started your mission. good feeling to have accomplish one off your list, of organization. This has been my mission for the last year. I have donated a lot of cookbooks, by printing off copies of recipes into a binder, unloaded a lot of magazines, and the main floor is almost accomplished. My second floor is overwhelming because I am a crafter, that usually means hoarding those supplies. At least, I feel more comfortable on my main floor. I like to spend at least 10 minutes a day, on something in organization. Good luck with the week and making wise food choices; I need to kick myself in the butt with that plan.

I am also a big crafter when I have time! I have stuff all over because no one place in the house is dedicated to ME. I have to share all my space. I set up a card table Saturday to make a towel cake for a bridal shower. Before I could even finish the cake yesterday...my family had piled their stuff on this table. So frustrating! I just wanted some space to call mine and not have the gift wrecked for a week's time. It will go to the shower next Saturday. This is the type of stuff I have to deal with. Then they wonder why I get bitchy. I wish I could get everything organized...but you are right. I got one thing in the house and organized...check mark!

WOW!!! Very impressed. Tell hubby that the only thing he can put in the drawers are rubes, opals, diamonds, emeralds and the Apple stock certificates, ha ha. Don't we all wish, but just think of the jewels you have in all those jars, ruby tomato soup, emerald pickles, and apple pie stock. Must be feeling poetic!
