Work has been a lot. Life has been a lot. COVID stress is finally catching up to me and the sneaky hate spiral took me down last week. I do have a cracked rib. Getting X-Rays in the time of COVID was an experience. I haven't kept up with comments here because I've just been in an absolutely terrible mood. Things I didn't do: Crash a "diet". I'm not dieting, I'm changing unhealthy patterns. Stress eat - food isn't a reward. It's what my body needs to live. I can't fill that hole with cake. Even vegan cake. I also, most importantly, just let myself experience the disappointment and sadness. I acknowledged the stress and my reasonable emotional responses to it and I'm working on letting it go.
I read an article last week that said most people don't maintain weight loss over 5 years. But if you do, you are probably going to keep it off. I'm willing to take that bet.

Its certainly been a year, hasn't it? Sorry to hear about the cracked crib - owie 😪. And I'll take that bet too! You totally have this. For what its worth, I think you're neato.

I just wish I had a better story for the rib. Like, "I was taking down a couple of neo-nazis in a marketplace and an elephant toppled a stall in front of me and that's how I cracked my rib."
But no. My story is, "I was coughing. And I cracked a rib."
Also, ditto. You're pretty neato too. :)

Sure, coughing because of all the dust you kicked up while battling said neo-nazis. I knew the elephant part was a bit of an exaggeration, but at least give yourself credit for the part of the story that actually happened.

I thought the elephant was a bit too far. 😂😂
Thank you, Ryan. You've made my morning a great deal better. 🌹

This is one bet you have complete control over.

That is why it is so important to invest the time and patience to experiment and find a way of eating that you can live with and actually enjoy eating. This has to be a lifestyle change. Deprivation, crash diets, severely restrictive diets don’t work and are a short term fix. You are on the right track for sure. Congratulations.
