Densible's Journal, 23 October 2008

Have not weighed self for 2 days. Will weigh in tomorrow for challenge. Slowly getting back on leaner eating plan-less calories. Still too many carbs. I often wonder if I did less carbs, would I have met my goal a long long time ago? It's been a year and I have lost 20 ish pounds. 12 more to go until goal. I read journals of members who have lost 50-100 lbs in the same time frame. I am still grateful and so pleased to be closing in on 140!

Had a stress dream last night-my hair was falling out (which in reality it is) by the handful. I had a great big bunch of it in my hands and was looking for my mother (she died over thirty years ago). I found her and started to cry and she was trying to comfort me and then my teeth started to come lose and soon my mouth was full of teeth like marbles. Horrible Horrible dream. It's the kind of dream that feels real upon waking and stays with you all day. Egads!

I have a big presentation today to prospective client. I am wearing clothes I have not worn in over two years-skirt and sleeveless blouse. Blow dried my hair and styled a modified comb over (to hide the bald spots). Will put on some make-up later so it will not be too melty by the time I get there. It is super hot and super dry here today-ewww. I long for some chilly rainy weather. Just a day or two and then back to sunshine please!

instead of less carbs, maybe just make sure they are "good carbs" and low on the glycemic index. That subject was mentioned recently but that is how ImLuuvd lost her weight so quickly...she used South Beach diet and followed the low glycemic index foods. Im trying to pay better attention to those myself right now and it seems to be helping. Hey 20 lbs in a year! I would say that definatley going in the right direction.. so much better than gaining or not losing. Even with the holidays thrown in to the mix, so you're doing fine. Wow sounds like a horrible dream! Of course you know its because yu have been worried about your hair and the teeth thing... Interesting because I have had that same dream and it was awful! Must be some connection to that dream like how people dream of falling or being chased by "something". I hope you sleep better without bad dreams tonight. Wearing a skirt you haven't worn in 2 yrs must feel good!! See, those 20 lbs are important! considering all the stress and medical factors I am sure any doctor would be pleased if their patients lost 20 lbs a year. Good luck on your presentation, let us know how it goes.

You didn't just lose 20 lbs in the last year, you've kept it off. That's a big accomplishment! Sorry about your nightmare. I hope you have some pleasant dreams tonight!

Thanks you two. I gues I am a half empty kinda chick. I never thought of the past year as one of "not gaining" Wow-that is amazing-THE YEAR BEFORE LAST I GAINED 15 POUNDS. SO really this year my net loss is 35 lbs-the pounds I lost plus the pounds I did not gain!!!!!

I used to have those dreams all the time...hair and teeth falling out...HATE them. I can tell you those are dreams of feeling a bit helpless and that things are "beyond" your control. Maybe make a vanilla steamer tonight? I will be sending you warm wishes and good vibes for a wonderful night of sleep SUNDAY night since that's when I am reading this. You HAVE done wonderful this year and feel free to email me anytime about SB and how I use the GI to help me. Sweet dreams.

I used to have that kind of dream all the time myself. I know how horrible they feel! It is usually because you are feeling out of control and stressed out. Just one suggestion: Do not judge yourself by someone else's progress. Your loss is wonderful! AND the best part is that people who lose slowly keep their weight off for good! Lots of studies back this up! :) Keep doing what you are doing and no worries. :) Try to do something nice for you! You deserve it!

I cannot remember if I had the hair falling out but I KNOW I have had the teeth falling out dream. Blessedly it has been a long time, so I guess that means I am under less stress!! WooHoo!!! Much better for your health.

I don't think you're eating too many carbs. At least you are losing at a good rate don't worry about keeping up with other people. Janellas is right, just keep making good wholesome food choices. Stay away from foods that spike your blood sugar and you'll be fine.... I used to have problems with thinning hair and for me it was a malabsorption issue. Once I healed my leaky gut my hair started to grow back. I'm trying to remember who else was having trouble with hair falling out and they got better. When I think of it I'll message you and maybe you can talk to them.

P.S. Just a hint until you have your hair thing figured out. Eyebrow pencils work miracles in a pinch. ;)
