Debbie Cousins's Journal, 17 February 2020

Well ... the best laid plans ... Husband had a doctor appointment this morning, and when he got home he said, "Ya wanna go out for lunch?" He NEVER (well ALMOST never) invites me to go out to eat, so I said yes (especially since we still have Cracker Barrel gift cards from Christmas AND he got more for his birthday 2/12 AND we didn't go anywhere or do anything for Valentine's Day). So, I am over for my Net Carbs, and that's with only eating HALF of my Homestyle Chicken Breast dinner (comes with TWO split breasts), carrots and 2/3 of one biscuit with butter. Oh, and a side salad with no croutons. I KNEW the breaded chicken breast would have SOME calories, but never would've thought it would be FIFTY net carbs in one breast. Still, I feel like I made a pretty good choice, given the spontaneity of the situation. I HAD planned to eat the other half of the chicken on a salad for dinner, but not sure I'll do that now that I know how many carbs are in it.

The GOOD news is ... I haven't just thrown in the towel yet! Normally, after going off program, I would just write off the entire day. Still tempted to do that, but so far haven't gone running to recover the cinnamon roll I stashed in my husband's office, or reached for the Payday bar I know is in the end table drawer. Maybe I should take a nap to protect myself from making any rash decisions!

yeah you can throw in the towel my granddaughter invited me out to breakfast this morning in there I was sitting with my carb manager app trying to figure out what I could have what to avoid what to cut out of a recipe the apps really do help keep us all on track thank God for technology you got this

added comment I've discovered better to add what you think you want to eat before you do see how it comes out then eating it and then deciding oops that had a lot more carbs in it than I ever imagined

Well, I took the nap. Temporary reprieve from the voices in my heat clamoring for all the wrong things. Since I woke up, they are all back - one says, "Have a Payday bar," another says, "Go make Tapioca Pudding," my husband eliminated the "Eat the last cinnamon roll" voice by saying that he wants to have it for his dessert tonight. There less obnoxious voices saying, "Eat an Atkins bar," but those are when I've "Been good!" Plus, I'm afraid to waste one if I might end up caving to other things on top of it. I don't "need" anything to eat, but oh how I WANT something. Honestly, the tapioca is the only thing I think would really satisfy my craving, because a recipe makes FOUR servings, so I know I could eat them all day. This was NOT how I wanted my day to go today! I accept full responsibility for it having gone this way, though. I COULD have said, "No" to lunch and my husband would have been totally ok with it. I COULD have gotten Grilled Chicken Tenderloins or a Grilled Chicken Salad. What's already happened doesn't matter - it's what I do NOW that is important. What to do, what to do!!!
