Help! I was drinking 4 water bottles daily and I noticed my weight was going up so I cut back yesterday and today. When I jumped on the scale at weigh-in, I was down 1 lb. It was very discouraging to see the scale go up (wednesday last week I was at 167, on Sunday morning I was at 170). My food intake hasn't been that bad - so the only thing I could think of was that I was getting bloated from all of the water. Any other ideas? You should be able to see my food and exercise. Help would be greatly appreicated. I would love to see my goal by next Wednesday (Sept 1)!!!!!

FYI, If you don't drink enough water, your body is more likely to retain the water that you do drink, among other things. Keep drinking the water! On a side note, don't pay so much attention to the number on the scaleā€¦ consider measuring with a tape and/or body fat calipers. 160lbs at a low body fat looks much better than 160lbs at a high body fat.

Your body is made up of 60% water and many different things (which have nothing to do with food or drink can effect your weight). Starting a new exercise plan or changing your new one can cause water retention in your muscles (temporarily). Medications, hormones, humidity etc. can all effect our weight. The scale can fluctuate hourly and it's very normal. If you weigh every day, you need to expect the scale to go up and down. Drinking water will help regulate your the water in your body so that is a good thing. If you eat too much sodium one day, the scale may be up the next. It is all temporary water weight. As long as you stay on plan, you will be fine in the long run. Google "why the scale lies" to give you some insight in to why our weight fluctuates. It may help you be less upset.
