flaxseed's Journal, 30 July 2010

I'm still full of cold and have developed a hacking chesty cough. My tot of whisky and honey didn't do much good (except add calories) and 'no' I didn't log them in my food diary!. Our visit to see the consultant after OHs scan was a bit mixed. The chemo has reduced the spots on his liver, but he has more nodes in his abdomen. However, they have agreed that he is to have a further 3 sessions. What will happen after that, I have no idea and I'm trying not to even think about it.

Weather has been very mixed. Some sun, some showers and always that wind. I was quite surprised on one of my walks down the lane that there are berries on the Rowan and Hawthorn which are starting to change colour already - a sign that the year is passing oh so quickly. I saw a group of young boys standing under the horse chestnut tree gazing up at tiny conkers - no doubt they will be back to collect them when the prickly cases ripen and split and they fall to the ground. The tiny blue harebells are in flower they are so tiny and such a beautiful blue. They look just like the skirts on the dresses of fairies in childrens books.

Eating has been a bit hit and miss over the last few days, I've been drinking quite a bit of fruit juice and of course my nightly tot with honey as my throat has been so sore. I'm a bit scared to stand on the scales, perhaps I'll pluck up the courage in the morning. Hope everyone else who's had this horrible bug is getting better and that the forthcoming weekend is a good one.

I had whatever you have earlier this summer and ended up at the DR. It just would not go away. Antibiotics helped it.

Try to keep 250 as your ceiling and move down from there flaxseed. Losing all your excess weight would seem like one of the best things you could do at this point. It might make you feel totally young again! :-)
