Oh that sounds fun! Will you be hiking in the Smokies? If so their terrain is rough so you will definitely get a good workout!

Planning on it, Crashtest- we'll see. Have to go for a wedding and so I am sure we will be doing all kinds of stuff. There are walking hikes to waterfalls- so I have heard. I will post a pic if we do it. Did I mention how excited I am? LOL

Awesome! Kidless! We’ve been married almost 22 years and the longest we’ve gone is 4 nights. 🤪 Don’t regret it, but alone time is great for any couple. Enjoy every sec!!!! You lovebirds!! ❤️🤗❤️

That get away sounds great! Good for you for planning time for just the two of you. 💑

But I can't be the only one who thinks "maybe we should take the kids" I feel even worse because it's a 2 bedroom cabin- LOL- so we still would have had privacy. Oh well. I'm going to stay strong. We need this time together- right? But we do always miss the kids. I will remind myself that we cannot get to a destination 20 minutes away let alone hours and hours without the 2 of them at each other's throats... that will make me feel better. 😉

You are not alone. I was going to add this long explanation in my previous comment, about how I was the same way when our kids were young, but I was like, "don't be babbling on Becky". 🤪 Yes! I always wanted the kids with us, even when they became adults! Of course now that we live far from them we can't just meet up for dinner or go to the beach or hiking like we used to. It's good to get away once in awhile. My mother advised me not to make our entire lives revolve around the kids when we were raising them, but that's basically how we lived. They grew up independent and self-sufficient, so not too bad with raising them. Besides, we are the ones that moved away! 😁 My mom also said that the kids will eventually grow up and move away and Joe and I won't know what to do with each other. Yeah, that did not happen. I am happy to say we are all doing fine. ❤

I like when you tell me stuff, Becc@. I'm nosey and I like hearing about your life. LOL. Glad you are all doing fine. I hope I do ok with an empty nest. On the one hand it seems years away- on the other hand we have a freshman in high school this year and I get choked up just thinking about how time has flown by. If I keep talking about it, they'll end up in the minivan with us. hahaha.

❤ The hardest thing I have had to do was let my kids be their own person and learn to be a parent to adults. At a certain point they stopped needing a mother to raise them, but will always need a mother to love them and encourage them to figure things out for themselves. I believe we are successful parents because our kids , all 4 of them and a daughter in law, still enjoy spending time with us. 👍

Oh Becc! You’re reading my heart! I have such a hard yime letting my kids go...😢 They’re 20 and 17. Hubby tells me I’m so attached and it’s true. The hardest part as a mom is to let them go. Any advice? I’d appreciate it. I wish they still needed me like they used too. We are very close, so I hope like you when they are grown and gone, we will remain that way. I live thousands of kilometers from my parents and my brother lives even further. I see my parents once a year. They’re actually coming for three weeks this Saturday. I can’t wait! Yet my tummy hurts just thinking about them leaving, even before they get here. See, I’m attached to everyone I love, 😯
