SeemaR's Journal, 28 January 2013

After being depressed Thursday night as there was no weight loss I had a weekend of eating and gained 2 lbs . Losing weight is a tough job and it's unfair why some people have a higher metobolism rate and can burn calories faster ! they hardly gain weight, they burn off excess fat with little or no effort ! It can get very depressing when you think you are trying so hard and you are not seeing the results you want.

When I reach this point I am tempted to go on some unhealthy fad diet to drop the weight quickly so that I can see the results. But I will not !

God made me special in many ways, more than I even knew until now - I rather be fat healthy than skinny unhealthy. Maybe this is his way of getting me to take care of my body and having a healthy long life that I can enjoy. So I am going to fight harder to become healthy !

Can I suggest you don't step on the scales each week? The weight loss achieved long term will stay off whereas short term will not. If you are not doing the 5:2 diet, I really recommend that. Any two days of the week do not eat more than 500-600 calories. The rest of the week eat normal healthy food with the normal calorie intake. You really will see the difference in about 4 weeks. But I do agree with you - there are many skinny people out there (including my 19yr old son) who are unfit!! I am fatter but fitter. They are known as TOFI's - Thin on the outside, fat inside. We are the FOTI's :) Keep it up girl!! You are doing so well!!!

It is a tough job to lose weight and we all need to find our own route. Eating healthy choices are a good start with portion control. I started with alternate day fasting, again its not for everyone and the 5 :2 option might be the way especially if you have a family. I found the restriction on the down days, about 850 cals reduced my up day intake. Takes a bit of will power to start but eventually i didn't feel any hunger on the down days. It got me off to a good start :)

Patience and persistence will get you to goal. The scale doesn't always reflect what we are doing right away. It can take weeks to see results sometimes. Get back on plan and stick with it for the long haul. You will get there.

Every day is a new day. Forget about last week and begin fresh this week. You've been doing wonderful. Just stick with it. :)

just saw this post today... but I see that you've lost those 2 pounds since this entry! Awesome!! :) I've found that after a day of eating the wrong foods, I gain a couple pounds due to the high salt/sodium content of what I ate. Like even after eating pizza & breadsticks, I retain so much water for at least 2 days afterward! I wonder if that's what happened with you too. PCOS definitely makes weight loss a slower process compared to some other people who don't have it, but we've just gotta keep chipping away at it!

Sorry to hear you were being disheartened. But glad to hear you've lost the 2lb again. As with others the occasional blowout does seem help me get back into gear after a plateau.
