Chris1979's Journal, 12 July 2010

I'm embarrassed. I fell off the healthy eating wagon this morning and the scale let me know it this morning! I'm so discouraged. How is it that one week of healthy eating choices loses me at best a pound nowadays, but ONE WEEKEND of poor eating results in a 3.5 pound gain? It just doesn't seem fair. Ugh!
145.4 lb Lost so far: 8.6 lb.    Still to go: 0 lb.    Diet followed poorly.
gaining 7.9 lb a week

And it probably isn't true either so don't fret it will go back down. Probably water but you are right it is so hard to lose and so easy to gain...just doesn't seem fair does it?? Have a good Monday Chris!

Its salt. Drink a bunch of water and you'll be fine. You should see where I am, even after a days fasting!!

it's because of your food choices I have the same problem and I start to eat more veggies and fruit and it all goes back to normal Watch out for processed foods and salty ones too.

I feel your pain!! Just jump back on and don't fret!! You'll be fine. You are fine. Remember the scale is ONE measurement ... it fluctuates A LOT for some of us. Take care Christina and please ... no need for embarassment!!

It is SOOO not fair. For years I couldn't figure out why I wasn't losing weight. All week I would eat right out of a healthy eating book. But I was having some junk on the weekends. I wish I'd figured out sooner how much damage a weekend full of bad eating (vs one indulgent meal or a little bit of in-control snacking) can do. But that weight is probaBLY a good deal water retention. And don't be embarrassed! We've all done it.

Oh and I don't know if you saw my journal, but I found some great coupons this weekend. And I used them. I figure if I only look for coupons for stuff I actually use and need (like the diapers and soap I bought this weekend) I'll be good. Thanks for the encouragement. I felt so proud of myself. :)

Chris.... I am so sorry to read this... i really am. Okay here it is- work your ass off for the rest of the week- today is only Monday and I bet you can be rid of it. drink lots and lots of water-you can get it off.I know it totally sucks- my body works the same way so i know how unfair it is. give a couple days of 'detox' and i bet it will be gone.

Awe sweetie.... Don't be embarrassed. I'm sorry about this gain. You worked so hard and it is unfair to see that you gain weight. But like others said, it is obviously water retention and it should be gone very soon if you eat well and drink plenty of fluids today. Don't give up! Get back on track today and stick to your good habits. (((hugs)))

I'd give it until tomorrow. Drink lots of water and flush the water retaining salts out of your system. You might find tomorrow its a lot better. I had a pretty disappointing weigh in this week too... :D Weight loss is about winning the war, not ever battle, sometimes you need a butt-kicking to rethink and get yourself back on track to win the war. :D

Did you eat 12K calories more than normal? If not, it's just water weight and not a gain of fat. Takes much more than that for 3.5 lbs. You'll be fine and back down in no-time! *hugs*

My scales stood still this week too! You are right it is about winning the war not every battle...Thanks for all of the supportive comments.
