Happy Monday everyone. I hope everyone had a great holiday. I am back to the regular job and home from an amazing week of training. I didn't post much on here and didn't journal as there was barely time to log the food. I kept to my routine and food selections - having access to a Dining Facility on base was helpful. My lessons learned from the trip were that planning for my snacks for the trip and bring them along worked as it kept me from having to figure out how to make what they provided work. I also learned that I have to be very careful of commercially available Pizza...we had a social mixer - they provided dominos pizza. I didn't freak out and be that guy - "I can't eat this and I have blah-blah-blah and go make me something different". I know I can have Papa Murphy's delite pizza - I know I can have three slices of large and not blow my carb level for a single meal. I chose to have two slices of the dominos large regular pizza. My BGL 2 hours after eating was 177 - Not the end of the world, just higher than I like and higher that I have been maintaining. I didn't blow the calories for the meal or anything else. The next morning I was back to 94BGL (pre insulin dose). I am really grateful for all the information I have gathered from your posts and I am grateful that I don't have to live in fear of food - it is just fuel for the machine. the bonus is because I didn't make an issue I was able to really enjoy the mixer and make a bunch of new professional contacts.
