Cthulhu's Journal, 05 December 2012

I must say I'm much happier going at this in a more moderate balanced manner. I have no cravings or will power struggles. After a month my clothes are fitting better, which may be the best measure of all. My energy levels are definitely up.

I think this is a better example for my children. It really drove things home for me when I thought about how detrimental dieting is and how eating weird to cope with weight problems made no sense for how I want my children live their entire lives. Our appetites are there our whole lives and we must learn how to negotiate a reasonable compromise between our urges and our rational selves.

I've just taken up bread making at home and have gone the starter based route, now with some success. Kudos to the interwebs for all the great resources and videos that people have provided.

You're absolutely right about aquiring weird eating habits, and how that's a bad idea. Question is, of course, what counts as weird? To me, calorie restricion, or counting calories, is not weird. Totally avoiding certain foods is weird. Finding the golden road through it all has to be what we need to do. Right?
