jaime30024's Journal, 20 March 2019

Most of you know that along with Keto I practice IF (Intermittent Fasting). Usually I follow 16:8, but I try to toss in some longer periods when I can. I have read the info regarding the benefits IF has for the body and it fits into my life easily. Today is a longer period fast..currently at 18 hours fasting and sipping some hot tea. I will see how much longer I can push this bar, but right now I am feeling great. It just worked out with the crazy busy day. Work, running, weights, council meeting, got home and then an EMS call, transport to the hospital and back home at 11:15pm and then get ready for bed. I have to say that DH had the CarbMaster milk last night and he said "this is pretty good"...checked his BS and it was down considerably from the afternoon.

A FS friend had posted how others seem to be so harsh/judgmental of the diet/lifestyle choices some folks are on. Thankfully, I haven't seen that much. I just like to fall back on what my Mama taught me, "if you can't say anything nice then don't say nothing at all". I think there are so many people that feel like they can say anything they want because they are sitting behind a keyboard. If I wouldn't say it to your face then I try to keep it to myself. Besides, what is going to happen if you scroll past something that you don't agree with? You know what I feel like happens to me if I scroll past? I didn't lose any of my valuable time getting sucked into negativity...LOL. That isn't to say that there is not a time and place for a friendly discussion/debate, but the problem is there are so many people that do not understand 'niceties' in this day.

Anyway, thanks Bella for the thought provoking journal entry and the friendly discussion that it created.

I hope you all have a great day. Be kind to yourselves, but also try to be kind to others...it takes far more energy to be negative than it does to be kind.

Good job on the fasting. I do some of it as well. I like it quite a bit. Makes things a lot simpler. Good luck with your longer day!!!!

You are so inspiring and it shows because your DH is following you in person and that is a hard thing to do - or maybe that was just Cutty & Me LOL ~ we were two of the most stubborn people I knew. I always say I don't IF but then I basically do go from 9pm-ish to after 10am-ish before I have the BPC --- and then I still rarely eat before 1-2PM-ish. For a while I was eating more frequently to avoid blood sugar spikes - it comes and goes. Thank you for the comment here and on my journal. I'm relieved it was mostly accepted as it was intended i.e, not trying to start a war but rather 'hey, let's try to be a little nicer here.'

IF works for me, when I can do it on a consistent basis. I do 16:8 as well, having my first meal between 6am-7am and stop eating around 2pm. I don't do a total fast though (just drinking water). I find that a cup of hot tea helps to take the hunger away in the evening or a diet soda. I've stretched the fast into 72 hours a couple of times, having only liquids and maybe jello. That feels good when I do it. Good luck with your WOE.

Totally Agree about the 'hey, let's try to be a little nicer here.'!!! I also IF most days of the week and I was probably one of the ones who said you should not fast till I learned about IF and FS! My memory of fasting was from junior high and it was not eating at all and then feeling light headed and fainting! So when my daughters mentioned it to me a while back I was like that is not very healthy! Then I learned about IF and it makes sense in my life and has been very positive! Lesson learned about making quick judgments about things you are not educated about! So one of the things I immediately loved about FS and its community is how much I learn each day and it is in part because everyone is doing their own WOE! Happy Hump Day friends!
