Had ½ grapefruit last night. Even though I am trying to be strict on my Keto diet, and this would not normally be allowed in that circumstances, since it is high carb (10 grams) my eating was low, so I figured it was a good time to have it. It was home grown and given to me Christmas day by my nephew. I'll have the other half in a day or two when my calories and carbs are low, which isn't today. I know it loses Vitamin C being cut, but that's just too bad. I want it because it's special, and it's worth it to me. It's certainly not junk food, it's good for me, it's just not Keto. Someday, I figure, on maintenance when I stray from Keto, it will probably be on fruit. Other than several strawberries on Christmas day, I haven't had fruit in a couple of months. It's hard not even having an apple, but I think I will someday.
My husband is out of the hospital, but his lungs are still congested. Dare I say he is going on a rampage, throwing some of my stuff in the trash. Since he put the loud oxygen machine in the bedroom even though they left about 60 feet of tubing, I am sleeping on the couch. It would have been so simple to leave it in a central location. When he is watching TV, he isn't even using it. Bad move. Last night he didn't wear his C-pap. This is bad for his brain. He did threaten me. Good thing I am anonymous here. Fasted 16 hours.

Don’t worry too much citrus fruits and berries are okay on keto. They are really low on the glycemic index and net carbs. Grapefruit especially lowers blood sugar. Remember keto isn’t about low carbs it’s about the insulin to glucagon ratio and low glycogen levels in the liver.

Dear @Snowwhite100, I'm so sorry to hear about your difficult home situation. "Dear God, please guide in this very trying situation in which this kind woman is living. Please work IN her husband to make him more comfortable AND to make him kinder and more considerate of her needs and wants. Please let their love be reciprocal. Give her the strength she needs for each day, and buoy her up with your peace and power. In Jesus' Name, Amen." Hang in there, sister. And don't sweat the small stuff (like grapefruit). I have found that I can work in the healthy things by just planning ahead. Yesterday, I had 100g of grapes and on Saturday I had an Asian Pear - both while staying within my RDI for calories AND keeping my NET Carbs under 30 grams. When you have an urge to have something healthy that is "not exactly Keto," just plan (the day before is best) to eat mostly other foods that are very LOW in Carbs. [b]You can do this![/]
