HCB's Journal, 01 October 2012

Just as I feared, the scale barely moved this week - but I understand intellectually. Emotionally, I am irritated and feel defeated.

I had a great week with consecutive days of exercise and proper nutrition, and had some moments where my increased fitness level was apparent. I am still playing with my food plan and this week probably got too much fat from eating avocados. They are great for us, but do pack a hefty amount of fat.

I reviewed my RDI as part of one of my challenges, but know it is not a perfect science. In fact, somtimes, I think when I eat a little more I end up losing. (No, I am not in "starvation mode.") It is about metabolism, exercise building muscle, water, and food intake.

AND, I got in another great JM kick-boxing circuit training DVD workout this morning!

Here's a great article:Four Things About Weight Loss

Always grateful for:

- My connection to the Mother Earth and its entire splendor
- My physical health

When it comes to the RDI, I have the same problem, I have to eat a little more to get things moving, but I am not hungry most of the time. I have been having where I lose for a week and then go 2-3 weeks without losing, it sucks!

Don't sweat it, we all hit those pesky plateaus! Stay on course! If it continues on without a change, try to vary up your exercise routines and maybe add some high intensity interval training. We all stall at one point or another. You'll get through this.

Your trend is great so change it up for a few days or a week.Sometimes if I do that then I can go back to my old ways but it will jump start again, confuse my body I guess. Doesn't work as well as it used to at this point though. So much less room ugh! It is disheartening but you will plow through just like all your other obsticle! Lately it seems I eat more when I am emotional and other times I am eating when I don't want to because if not I'll gain. It's so confusing!

HCB... your positive outlook and energy will get you through this journey more than the looking at the scales will. Keep moving and eat less. Your body is using the fat as fuel. Not to worry. I am proud of you and love the article you posted. Thank you so much... that really did help me. :)

You know what's great? You are working on figuring it out and not giving up and that's the most important thing! The way you have been losing weight and looking at your chart is amazing. You are such an inspiration to us all. Keep figuring it out and you will be back to your downward trend in no time at all.

Well, it may be "barely" moving, but it is moving down, not up...hang in there!

HCB- I hear ya! I find it hard to keep motivated when the scale isn't showing losses, but I have learned to pay attention to the way my clothes feel and I take measurements to see if I have lost any inches (or centimeters) ;) Thanks for the good articles--good information for us to remember when we get discouraged. By the way you are doing GREAT!! regardless of what the scale tell you.
